Role:
The Senior Quality Assurance Analyst (Tester) will provide full-performance level testing support to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).. The Mid-Level QA Analyst designs and executes test cases across functional, regression, integration, accessibility, and user acceptance testing for system releases under approved test strategies.
This role applies SDLC and Agile/Scrum practices, federal accessibility (Section 508) requirements, and DHS-specific quality expectations with limited supervision. The Mid-Level QA Analyst designs and executes test cases, performs defect triage and tracking, contributes to test documentation, supports HC migration test cycles, and escalates complex methodological or release-readiness issues to senior personnel.
Duties:
The Senior Quality Assurance Analyst (Tester) will:
Education:
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Engineering, or related field. Equivalent federal QA testing experience may substitute based on contract terms.
Required Experience and Skills:
· U.S. Citizenship.
· Active DHS Public Trust or favorably adjudicated investigation; ability to obtain and maintain required suitability/access throughout the period of performance.
· Minimum 5-7 years of total software testing experience, including hands-on functional, regression, and UAT execution.
· Strong knowledge of the SDLC and the Scrum Framework.
· Strong knowledge of QA strategies and methodologies, including smoke testing, regression testing, and functional and non-functional testing.
· Hands-on experience with Jira and test management or defect tracking tools.
· Hands-on experience using JAWS for Section 508 testing.
· Working knowledge of SQL queries, GUI design standards, and best practices.
· Working knowledge of Section 508 requirements and the Revised 508 Standards.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft clear test documentation and respond professionally to functional and technical stakeholders.
· Demonstrated ability to manage a steady workload with limited supervision in a fully remote environment.
Preferred Skills:
· Prior experience supporting DHS, OPM, federal HR shared services, or other federal Human Capital systems testing programs.
· Experience testing HC platforms such as Workday, Oracle HCM Cloud, SAP SuccessFactors, or PeopleSoft HCM.
· Experience testing federal HR systems, including NFC EmpowHR, USA Staffing, FedTalent, OPM eOPF, webTA, BENEFEDS, or TSP integrations.
· Experience supporting HC system migrations, modernization programs, or integration testing activities.
· Hands-on experience with automated testing frameworks (Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Postman/Newman, or comparable).
· Experience with Salesforce testing or experience testing custom applications and websites.
· Certifications such as ISTQB Foundation, CSTE, Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), or active progress toward ISTQB Advanced.
· DHS Trusted Tester certification or IAAP CPACC for Section 508 accessibility.
