Senior Revenue Cycle Specialist

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Revenue Cycle Specialist to join our dynamic healthcare finance team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the end-to-end revenue cycle process, ensuring accurate billing, coding, and collections to optimize revenue and maintain compliance. Your expertise in medical coding, billing procedures, and medical records management will drive efficiency and accuracy across all revenue cycle activities. Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze medical records to ensure proper documentation for billing and coding purposes.
  • Assign appropriate Diagnosis-Related Group (DRG) classifications, Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes, and ICD-9/ICD-10 diagnosis codes to support accurate reimbursement.
  • Perform detailed medical coding using ICD coding systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Manage medical collections by following up on unpaid claims and resolving billing discrepancies with insurance companies and patients.
  • Utilize Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems to input, verify, and update patient information efficiently.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to clarify documentation gaps that may impact billing accuracy or reimbursement.
  • Monitor accounts receivable aging reports, identify outstanding balances, and implement strategies for timely collection.
  • Maintain thorough records of all billing activities, coding adjustments, and correspondence related to revenue cycle processes.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in medical billing, coding, or revenue cycle management within a healthcare setting.
  • Strong knowledge of DRG classifications, CPT coding procedures, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding standards, and medical terminology.
  • Familiarity with medical records management and documentation requirements for accurate billing.
  • Experience working with EMR/EHR systems and other healthcare software platforms.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to analyze complex medical data accurately.
  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with clinical staff, insurance providers, and patients.
