Job Summary:
Prepare and manage Critical Path Method schedules to facilitate efficient, safe, and cost effective construction on multiple projects concurrently with a focus on industry best practice quality standards. Supervise and mentor project teams and other schedulers while they perform the above tasks as well. Work with project teams preparing for construction projects by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage project teams’ CPM scheduling efforts by striking a balance of individual help performing day-to-day tasks vs more hands off management approaches.
- Train other Haselden staff in proper CPM scheduling methods to allow them to grow as schedulers and to effectively manage their projects.
- Mentor Schedulers, Superintendents, and others in effective project management with a focus on schedule quality, execution, communication, delay analysis, and other key facets of construction scheduling.
- Develop detailed CPM schedules in collaboration with the project and preconstruction teams.
- Monitor and track progress on-site through weekly, accurate schedule updates.
- Be the champion of all schedule related issues on various projects
- Communicate changes in the schedule and results of updates to the project team in an effort to keep everyone ahead of issues that may arise.
- Add Value to the construction team by thinking critically and proactively providing solutions and ideas to keep projects moving forward to successful completion.
- Complete understanding of what is expected by the project team as it relates to construction scheduling.
- Complete understanding of plans and project scope.
- Provide guidance to the development of a construction plan, including personnel requirements, material needs, and subcontract requirements.
- Review and analyze delays, reasons for same and claims for delays. This may involve both prospective and retrospective schedule analysis.
- Lead meetings with project teams to track project progress, project challenges and resolutions to keep projects on schedule.
- Lead development of contingency plans for Project intervention / mitigation as required.
- Ensure projects meet contractual scheduling requirements.
- Review of Owner Contracts for time performance requirements and their incorporation into the schedule.
- Facilitate pull planning / last planner sessions with project teams.
- Review weekly work plans for subcontractor and project performance metrics.
- Ability to evaluate design (lack of detail or specs).
- Work with project teams to analyze FULL effect on schedule due to change. Be able to communicate same effectively to project teams and Owner.
- Approachable and able to provide advice and direction to the operations team.
- Maintain strong relationships with owner, owner’s rep, construction manager, architect, etc.
- Conduct effective meetings as needed.
- Escalate issues in a timely and effective manner.
- Provide constructive guidance and feedback to team members as it relates to scheduling
- Effective listening skills

- Competency in lean scheduling techniques, pull schedules, weekly work plans, and PPC metrics
- Building systems Knowledge including building envelope, structural systems, foundations, roofing systems, MEP, electrical, fire protection, low voltage, site utilities, grading, and hardscapes.
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction management is preferred.
- 7+ years in the construction industry are required.
- Is an expert user of CPM scheduling software, Elecosoft Powerproject preferred, as well as Oracle P6, and to a lesser degree MS Project.
- Has had ample previous experience managing project teams and direct reports in construction scheduling roles
- Has participated in or led training efforts in scheduling software and methodologies.
- Familiarity with Procore or other construction project management tools.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the executive team while thinking on your feet.
- Ability to solicit information from project teams in order to manage and monitor their progress and know when to raise a red flag if issues arise.
- Successfully communicate by writing reports & business correspondence while utilizing a tactful and respectful language.
- Understands the concept of commercial construction from start to finish.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret construction documents for building and site work.
- Ability to work independently in the field with office support.
- Address complaints and resolve problems as needed.
- Demonstrates great work ethic and positive attitude.
Salary: The salary range for this position is $125,000 - $150,000 Salary and will be determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or location where the job is performed. Haselden does not discriminate based upon any protected category with respect to the payment of wages.
