Senior Secondary English Teacher - Primary English HOD

Position Title: Senior Secondary English Teacher
Department: English
Reporting To: Vice Principal / Principal
Location: EuroSchool Whitefield

Role Overview

The Senior Secondary English Teacher is responsible for teaching English to Grades IX to XII, ensuring academic excellence, conceptual clarity, and board exam preparedness while fostering critical thinking, analytical skills, and effective communication among students.

Key ResponsibilitiesAcademic Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with CBSE curriculum.
  • Teach Literature, Language, Writing Skills, and Grammar as per board guidelines.
  • Prepare students for Board Examinations with structured revision plans and practice papers.
  • Develop lesson plans, worksheets, question papers, and assessment tools.
  • Conduct regular formative and summative assessments.
  • Provide structured feedback and remedial support where required.
  • Integrate technology into teaching-learning processes.

Curriculum & Planning

  • Participate in curriculum planning and academic mapping.
  • Contribute to question bank preparation and moderation processes.
  • Ensure timely syllabus completion and revision cycles.

Student Development

  • Encourage analytical thinking and literary appreciation.
  • Mentor students for debates, literary events, and competitive exams.
  • Identify and nurture students’ strengths in communication and writing.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain academic records and documentation.
  • Attend staff meetings, PTMs, and professional development programs.
  • Ensure compliance with CBSE academic standards and school policies.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Master’s Degree in English.
  • B.Ed. is mandatory.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience teaching Senior Secondary (Grade XI & XII).
  • Strong command over literature, grammar, and writing skills.
  • Experience in CBSE board evaluation preferred.

Role Overview

The HOD – Primary English leads the English department for Grades I–V, ensuring curriculum implementation, quality teaching standards, and continuous improvement in student literacy, language development, and foundational communication skills.

Key ResponsibilitiesAcademic Leadership

  • Lead and supervise the Primary English faculty.
  • Ensure effective implementation of the English curriculum.
  • Monitor lesson plans, teaching quality, and assessment standards.
  • Conduct classroom observations and provide constructive feedback.
  • Ensure alignment with CBSE guidelines and school academic vision.

Curriculum Planning & Development

  • Design academic calendars and yearly planners.
  • Standardize worksheets, assessments, and question papers.
  • Develop reading programs and literacy enhancement initiatives.
  • Introduce innovative teaching strategies and best practices.

Team Management

  • Mentor and support English teachers in professional growth.
  • Conduct departmental meetings and training sessions.
  • Ensure collaboration and sharing of best practices within the team.

Student Development

  • Strengthen foundational reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
  • Organize English-related events (Spell Bee, Reading Week, Literary Activities).
  • Monitor student progress and implement intervention strategies.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Ensure documentation, academic audits, and compliance.
  • Coordinate with other HODs for interdisciplinary integration.
  • Support school events and academic initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Master’s Degree in English.
  • B.Ed. mandatory.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of teaching experience, preferably in Primary& Middle School
  • Prior leadership experience preferred.
