Job Summary:
The GIS Map Developer will be responsible for building tools and systems supporting the tagging and updating GIS roadway map related data. The position will be in charge of the full lifecycle of the system, including consuming and caching data from 3rd party providers, data tagging and presentation, and the UI experience used by our internal teams. The position requires receiving and actively addressing feedback from internal teams to improve and iterate on the systems being built. This position will have a large amount of leeway, and as such requires a person who can actively and independently problem solve and address challenges while being supported by our dev-ops and infrastructure personnel.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain GIS-enabled applications and services using C#, .NET, and React.
Build and integrate mapping functionality into new and existing web and internal applications
Work with geospatial data sources (coordinates, boundaries, regions, routes, geofences, etc.)
Develop and consume APIs for spatial data and mapping services
Implement spatial queries, calculations, and data transformations
Collaborate with database, reporting, and application teams
Optimize performance for map rendering, spatial queries, and high-volume data scenarios
Ensure accuracy, reliability, and maintainability of geospatial data and services
Participate in code reviews and contribute to architectural and technical decisions
Respond to feedback from internal map teams consuming the systems being built
Support troubleshooting, enhancements, and ongoing maintenance of GIS functionality
Skills/Abilities:
Strong experience working with GIS or geospatial data concepts and systems
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
Ability to work with large datasets and performance-sensitive systems
Education and Experience:
8+ years of experience building and integrating systems in C#, .NET, and Microsoft SQL Server.
Experience integrating mapping libraries or platforms into applications
Strong experience working with GIS or geospatial data concepts and systems
Familiarity with spatial data types and queries
