Lead Software Engineer - Senior Software Program Manager - Healthcare IT
Location: Garner, NC (Hybrid)
The Senior Software Program Manager will lead cross-functional delivery for our PACS/RIS healthcare imaging platform. This role is responsible for driving execution across Development, QA, Compliance and DevOps teams, ensuring high-quality, compliance, and timely delivery of software releases. This role will bring strong expertise in Agile program management, healthcare IT, and enterprise software delivery. Will serve as a critical link between Software Engineering teams, Product Management, and Executive Leadership, providing clear visibility into progress, risks, and outcomes through structured reporting and dashboards.
Program Planning & Execution

Define and manage end-to-end program delivery for multiple concurrent projects/releases.

Develop and maintain comprehensive release plans, including milestones, dependencies, and deliverables.

Coordinate across Development, QA, DevOps, Product, and Operations teams to ensure alignment and execution.

Ensure adherence to software development lifecycle (SDLC) and regulatory requirements (HIPAA, FDA, etc., where applicable).
Agile Leadership

Facilitate all Agile ceremonies including:

Daily Stand-ups

Drive continuous improvement in Agile practices and team maturity.

Manage backlog readiness in collaboration with Product Owners.
Risk & Issue Management

Identify, assess, and proactively mitigate risks and blockers.

Maintain and communicate a risk register with clear mitigation strategies.

Escalate critical issues to leadership with recommended solutions.
Release Management

Own the release lifecycle, including planning, execution, validation, and deployment coordination.

Ensure all release deliverables meet quality, performance, and compliance standards.

Work closely with DevOps to ensure smooth CI/CD pipeline execution.
Reporting & Communication

Create and maintain program dashboards tracking:

Ensure adherence to healthcare regulatory standards and internal quality processes.

Drive process improvements across engineering workflows.

Implement tools and best practices for enhanced program visibility and efficiency.
Education
-
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (required)
- Master’s degree or MBA (preferred)
- PMP, PgMP, or Agile certifications (CSM, SAFe, etc.) preferred
Experience
-
8+ years of experience in software program/project management
- 3+ years in a senior or lead program management role
- Experience managing cross-functional Agile teams (Dev, QA, DevOps)
- Prior experience in healthcare IT, PACS/RIS, or medical imaging systems strongly preferred
- Proven track record of delivering complex enterprise software programs
- Experience working in regulated environments (HIPAA, FDA, ISO 13485) is a plus
