Key Accountabilities
A. Environmental Compliance & Monitoring
- Carry out inspections, audits, and assessments of environmental hazards and unsafe environmental conditions at mine sites.
- Conduct environmental monitoring (air quality, gas tests, noise, water, dust surveys) and compare results to international standards; report findings to relevant personnel.
- Monitor waste areas such as scrap yards, landfills, oil water separators, wash bays, and chemical storage for compliance with standards; document and report deviations.
B. Environmental Risk Management
- Investigate environmental incidents and non conformances; identify causal factors and submit recommendations to the Environment & Occupational Health Supervisor.
- Assess environmental hazards by developing or modifying procedures, ensuring all personnel adhere to program standards.
C. Contractor Oversight & Regulatory Adherence
- Audit contractor compliance with Ma’aden environmental rules, procedures, and health standards; issue reports on violations.
- Ensure contractors are aware of and comply with Ma’aden Gold’s environmental regulations.
D. Environmental Program Administration
- Formulate environmental management plans aligned with Maaden standards and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with teams to ensure dust suppression systems (sprays, scrubbers) are properly used during operations.
- Monitor stability of closed heap leach areas and tailings dams, especially after heavy rains; prepare documentation.
E. Reporting & Communication
- Prepare and submit weekly and monthly environmental reports to relevant stakeholders.
- Distribute environmental communication materials across mine sites to promote awareness.
- Coordinate with Internal Audit (Finance) on environmental‐related insurance claims.
F. Document and Permits Review
- Review all document related documentation during the project phase and advise project team for all environmental related matters.
- Maintain all environmental permit requirements and ensure that all permits are up to date.
Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Competencies
Minimum Qualifications:
B.A. or
B.Sc. in engineering or environmental field
Minimum Experience:
Seven (7) years of experience in any field that involves environmental operations in manufacturing facility

Skills:
- English language proficiency (oral and written)
- Technical aspects of environmental field and knowledge of NCEC and other environmental authorities
