Contour Fence is a locally owned fencing and decking contractor serving the Greater Seattle area since 1984. The company has built a strong reputation for quality workmanship, transparent pricing, and consistent project execution across residential and commercial work.
We are hiring a Senior Staff Accountant to bring structure, discipline, and visibility to the financial function.
Role Overview
This role owns the accounting engine behind a high-volume, project-based construction business.
You will not just report numbers. You will improve how the business runs.

You will work directly with ownership to translate field activity into financial clarity.
Core Responsibilities
Financial Operations
- Own monthly close, including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting
- Deliver accurate P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements
- Maintain integrity of the general ledger
Job Costing & Margin Control
- Implement and refine job costing across fencing and decking projects
- Track labor, materials, and overhead by project
- Identify margin leakage and recommend corrective action
Cash Flow & Working Capital
- Manage A/R and A/P cycles to improve cash conversion
- Monitor cash position and forecast near-term liquidity
- Support pricing discipline with real cost visibility
Systems & Process
- Optimize accounting systems (QuickBooks or similar)
- Build repeatable processes for invoicing, purchasing, and reporting
- Support future system upgrades as volume scales
Compliance & Risk
- Coordinate with external CPA for tax and year-end reporting
- Maintain documentation for audits, insurance, and licensing
- Support internal controls appropriate for a growing contractor
Strategic Support
- Assist ownership with budgeting and forecasting
- Provide insight into project mix, pricing, and capacity decisions
- Support evaluation of expansion opportunities
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 4+ years of accounting experience
- Strong GAAP foundation
- Experience in construction, home services, or project-based business preferred
- Advanced Excel capability
Preferred:
- Job costing experience
- CPA or CMA

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
