Position Overview
SAGE Tax Advisory is a growing division within our multi-entity firm, providing comprehensive, advisory-based tax solutions. We are committed to exceeding client expectations with honesty, integrity, accountability, and pursuit of excellence.
The Tax Senior Associate will be responsible for preparing and reviewing accurate individual and business tax returns, supporting clients in compliance with federal and state tax regulations, and delivering proactive tax planning strategies. This role also includes mentoring junior staff, supporting audits, and ensuring best practices in data security and client service.
Key Responsibilities
- Tax Preparation & Compliance
- Prepare and review individual, business, and trust income tax returns with accuracy and timeliness.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws.
- Stay current with tax code changes and regulations.
- Manage workload of an assigned group of clients
Client Service & Advisory
- Meet with clients to gather financial information and provide tax guidance.
- Identify potential deductions, credits, and tax planning opportunities.
- Respond to IRS and State notices and inquiries.
- Support clients during audits, providing documentation and resolution strategies.
Internal Support & Team Development
- Assist with bookkeeping for monthly clients when needed.
- Train and mentor junior staff members.
- Support senior tax leaders and collaborate with other advisory team members.
Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain accurate and organized records of tax filings and related correspondence.
- Ensure confidentiality and data security for all client information.
Essential Education
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related degrees. Active CPA, EA, or JD license required; candidates actively pursuing certification will also be considered.
Experience & Position Requirements
- Experience preparing individual, business, and trust tax returns.
- Proficiency in tax preparation software and digital office environments.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and follow-up skills.
- Ability to adapt in a fast-paced, flexible work environment.
