Senior Vessel Operator

Key Responsibilities

Vessel Coordination & Port Operations:

• Oversee vessel operations during port stay, ensuring smooth, safe, and timely turnaround.
• Ensure full compliance with maritime regulations, port authority requirements, and company operational standards.
• Monitor cargo and port operations and issue accurate daily operational reports in line with company SOPs.
• Coordinate with vessel masters to ensure timely submission of pre arrival documentation and operational readiness.
• Maintain strong working relationships with ship owners, charterers, Masters, cargo receivers, shippers, agents, and port authorities.

Documentation & Compliance:

• Prepare and review all required shipping documentation, including but not limited to Bills of Lading, Cargo Manifests, Statements of Facts, and Mates Receipts.
• Ensure accurate Proforma Disbursement Account (PDA) calculations and port cost estimations across Egyptian ports.
• Maintain up to date knowledge of port restrictions, draft limitations, berth availability, and operational constraints.
• Ensure all documentation and operational activities comply with applicable maritime laws, regulations, and company policies.

Stakeholder Communication:

• Act as the primary point of contact for vessel related operational communications.
• Provide timely and clear updates to clients, port stakeholders, agents, and internal company departments.
• Support commercial and chartering teams with operational input as required.

Operational Excellence:

• Proactively identify and resolve operational issues, proposing effective and practical solutions.
• Demonstrate flexibility to work extended or irregular hours as dictated by operational requirements.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to maintaining high service and operational standards.

Qualifications & Skills

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• 5+ years of experience in vessel operations, with proven exposure to all types of vessels including Port calls & Suez Canal.

• Strong knowledge of PDA preparation and port cost structures.
• Solid understanding of vessel operations, maritime regulations, and port operations.
• Proficiency in shipping documentation processes and requirements.
