Senior Vice President Asset Management Strategy

Urgent requirement for a Senior Vice President Asset Management Strategy to be based in Doha, Qatar for a major financial institution.

The Role:

Reporting to the EVP, Group Asset Management , this role provides specialist investment expertise to all areas of the bank — particularly to client-facing and business development teams. The Investment Strategist will work closely with Relationship Managers, Business Developers, Fund Managers, and Research Analysts to support portfolio construction, client advisory, and the development of investment solutions.

The role also involves active participation in client meetings and presentations, serving as a key investment subject matter expert across Private Banking, Retail, and Asset Management divisions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as an internal expert on all investment-related products and services.
• Assess clients’ investment needs and recommend tailored portfolio solutions.
• Construct client portfolios across asset classes and geographies, defining appropriate asset allocation and rebalancing strategies.
• Conduct portfolio valuations and provide regular investment reviews.
• Deliver internal training to enhance product knowledge and prevent mis-selling across all business units.
• Create technical and marketing materials to support investment sales activities.
• Collaborate with Relationship Managers to design and propose investment solutions in response to client RFPs.
• Work with compliance and control functions to ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
• Act as a key liaison between client-facing teams and Product Management, translating client feedback into actionable product enhancements.
• Identify new business opportunities through client and market segmentation.
• Collaborate with Product Management to develop competitive pricing structures and product positioning.
• Participate in business development discussions, contributing to strategic product recommendations and sales performance.
• Promote efficiency, productivity, and cost-consciousness across the asset management function.
• Maintain a deep understanding of financial markets, economic fundamentals, and global taxation issues impacting investment portfolios.
• Demonstrate proactive thought leadership in assessing product suitability and portfolio construction.
• Provide coaching, mentorship, and technical training to team members to enhance capabilities and performance.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (MBA preferred) with 15+ years of experience in investment management or asset management .
• CFA (Level III) is required; CIM or equivalent designation preferred.
• Strong technical understanding of global investment products, portfolio management, and risk frameworks.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders at all levels.
• Strong understanding of regulations and compliance frameworks relevant to investment management.
• Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills, with fluency in English (Arabic an advantage).
• Proven commercial awareness, business development acumen, and ability to contribute to revenue generation.
• Effective leadership and problem-solving skills with experience managing culturally diverse teams.
