Description
The Senior Warehouse Manager oversees all budgetary, people development, and operational objectives in the warehouse on both the day shift, swing shift and overnight shifts. This role involves managing and leading a team of managers, supervisors and team leaders across all shifts including transportation. As a Senior Warehouse manager, you will be expected to coach and mentor all levels of associates to ensure performance objectives are met across all departments. The Senior Warehouse Manager is also responsible for building and maintaining positive employee relations and developing leadership strengths within the warehouse. This position requires a strategic manager who can balance operational excellence with associate development while driving results across all areas of the warehouse.
Responsibilities:
• Leads the development and implementation of quality improvement and process optimization initiatives, including 6 Sigma principles, to enhance operational efficiency within each department and enable the warehouse to consistently achieve and surpass business objectives.
- Responsible for overall performance of either Inbound or Outbound operation, including safety, quality and customer experience.
- Sets and clarifies requirements and expectations for all Managers, Supervisor and Team Leaders within all departments. Measures performance, provides feedback, and holds all associates including managers, supervisors and team leaders accountable for their performance and the performance of their departments.
- Leverages Managers, Supervisor and Team Leaders by sourcing and encouraging ideas, and rolling them into the creation of improvement plans for all functional department.
- Takes proactive steps to ensure that best practices are shared across all departments and shifts.
- Works closely with support staff (HR, Finance, Facilities, IT and Sales Representatives) to build and secure support and resources for projects and initiatives in their area, as well as providing needed support and resources for other staff initiatives.
- Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.
- Controls inventory levels by conducting physical counts; reconciling with on hands report.
- Maintains physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement.
- Maintains warehouse staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
Additional Job Requirements:
• Lift and move cases up to 65 pounds each
- Regular bending, lifting, stretching and reaching both below the waist and above the head
- Walking around the warehouse with great frequency; warehouses are over a quarter mile in length
- Continual standing and/or walking an average of 5 miles daily or more
- Ability to work in construction/distribution environments that may be noisy, unlit, unheated, not air-conditioned
- Able to access all areas of building (ascending and descending ladders, stairs, gangways safely and without limitation)
