About the Role

We’re looking for a senior-level WordPress developer to join our team and lead development on custom WordPress sites—both frontend and backend. This is not an off-the-shelf WordPress shop. We build bespoke digital platforms with real complexity and scale, and we need someone who brings depth, precision, and technical maturity to the table.

You’ll work closely with our designers, strategists, and project leads to create high-quality WordPress experiences that are fast, scalable, accessible, and maintainable. You'll also contribute to our internal standards and mentor others as needed.

This is an in-office position (Mon/Wed/Fri) at our Omaha office. It’s ideal for someone who loves small teams, clear ownership, and delivering clean solutions without red tape.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and maintain custom WordPress themes and plugins
• Work with Visual Studios, ACF Pro, Gravity Forms, and modern build tools (e.g., WP Scripts, Composer)
• Implement responsive, accessible frontends from Figma designs using HTML/CSS and modern JS
• Troubleshoot performance issues, implement SEO best practices, and support complex content models
• Collaborate with PMs and designers to scope work and offer implementation insights
• Interface regularly with client partners to discuss projects, explain technical architecture choices and help deliver exceptional customer service.
• Write clean, reusable code in GitHub repositories with CI/CD deployment that balances functionality and performance
• Occasionally assist with client support or troubleshooting escalations

What We’re Looking For

• 8+ years of professional WordPress development experience
• Deep experience with custom theme and plugin development (not just site assembly & not frontend page builders like Divi or Elementor)
• Strong frontend skills: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Experience with ACF Pro, CPTs, PHP, shortcakes, WP Query, and filters/actions
• Familiarity with Git workflows, deployment pipelines, and local dev environments
• Exceptional communication skills and responsiveness—you listen, clarify, and follow through
• Able to self-manage in a fast-moving environment and hit deadlines with confidence

• Experience with multisite networks, multilingual sites, or large-scale content architectures
• Performance optimization, technical SEO, and accessibility expertise
• Familiarity with WP Engine, Cloudflare, and CDN configurations
• You’ve built themes or plugins for public release or commercial sale
• Light experience with React or headless WordPress (even though this isn’t a headless role)
• You’ve worked in small teams or agencies and love wearing multiple hats
• Fluent with modern AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.) and comfortable using them for planning, documentation, and creative problem-solving
• Actively experiments with AI to work smarter—not just curious, but already using it in daily work
• Understands AI's role in shaping modern software workflows and is excited to be part of a company that integrates AI into everything we do

Please note: This is an in-office role based in Omaha, Nebraska. Fully remote or offshore applicants will not be considered. Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
