Job Title: Senior WordPress Developer
Job Type: Onsite, Full-Time
Location: Gulberg Greens, Islamabad
Working Hours: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Days: Monday to Saturday

Job Overview:

As a Senior WordPress Developer at Hashtag Media, you will oversee and guide the development of high-performing WordPress websites while mentoring the development team. You’ll be responsible for planning, executing, and optimizing projects from start to finish — ensuring seamless user experience, efficient workflows, and top-tier website performance. The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge of WordPress architecture, custom theme and plugin development, and performance optimization, with the ability to lead by example and ensure every project meets the highest standards of quality, functionality, and speed.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and guide a team of WordPress developers, fostering technical growth and collaboration.
• Assign tasks, create sprints, set deadlines, monitor team progress, and provide guidance and technical support to ensure timely delivery and high-quality project execution.
• Oversee end-to-end WordPress development processes from planning to deployment.
• Collaborate with the designers to translate requirements into actionable development plans.
• Review code, enforce quality standards, and ensure adherence to WordPress best practices, performance optimization, and scalability frameworks.
• Develop and customize WordPress plugins for unique functionality, ensuring code is secure, standards-compliant, future-proof, and compatible with the latest WordPress versions.
• Work with WordPress REST API or create custom endpoints as needed to extend website functionality and integrations.
• Ensure all websites are fully responsive, cross-browser compatible, and SEO-friendly.
• Maintain development documentation, establish SOPs, and introduce workflow improvements.
• Stay updated with the latest WordPress trends, tools, and performance optimization techniques.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional experience in WordPress development, with at least 1 year in a lead or senior role.
• Proven expertise in custom theme and plugin development from scratch, including building fully custom WordPress websites.
• Strong command over PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/jQuery, and MySQL.
• Deep understanding of WordPress architecture, hooks, filters, REST API, and security best practices.
• Proficiency in builders like Elementor, Divi, WPBakery, and Gutenberg (custom blocks experience is a plus).
• Advanced knowledge of Page Speed Optimization, caching layers, and performance tools.
• Experience with Shopify or other CMS platforms is a plus.
• Excellent communication, time management, and decision-making abilities.
