Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and deployment of WordPress-based e-commerce platforms, ensuring seamless integration with third-party APIs and services such as REST, GraphQL, and SOAP.
  • Design and implement responsive web designs with a focus on UI/UX, optimizing user flows for maximum engagement and conversion.
  • Develop custom themes and plugins utilizing PHP, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and frameworks like Bootstrap and React.
  • Manage backend systems using databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Microsoft SQL Server; optimize queries for performance.
  • Implement continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines with tools like Jenkins, GitHub, and Azure DevOps to streamline release cycles.
  • Utilize containerization technologies such as Docker and configuration management tools like Ansible for scalable deployment environments, including cloud platforms like AWS and Azure.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams using project management tools such as Trello and Jira, adhering to Agile methodologies throughout the SDLC.
  • Conduct unit testing, code reviews, and system architecture planning to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Maintain documentation including wireframes, user flows, technical specifications, and system architecture diagrams.

Skills

  • Extensive experience with WordPress development, including custom theme/plugin creation for e-commerce sites.
  • Proficiency in front-end technologies: HTML5, CSS3/SCSS, JavaScript, with frameworks like React, Angular, or similar libraries for dynamic UI development.
  • Strong backend expertise in languages such as PHP, Python, or Ruby on Rails; experience with MVC frameworks is a plus.
  • Knowledge of database systems: MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Microsoft SQL Server; ability to write optimized SQL queries.
  • Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, Azure), containerization (Docker), configuration management (Ansible), and DevOps practices (Jenkins, GitHub).

Job Overview

We are seeking a Senior-Level WordPress Software Developer to lead the final implementation and launch execution of our e-commerce platform. This role is critical to the successful rollout of 60+ products at launch, spanning heavy equipment, electronics, e-homes, hydraulics, home accessories, and industrial goods.

The ideal candidate has deep experience with WordPress, WooCommerce, custom code implementation, Stripe integration, and shipping/logistics coordination, and is comfortable operating in a fast-moving startup environment with compensation beginning immediately after platform launch.

This role is execution-focused, not entry-level. You will be responsible for ensuring that products are correctly structured, checkout flows function seamlessly, and payment and shipping systems are fully operational at launch.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement, structure, and publish 60+ products within WordPress/WooCommerce
  • Develop and integrate custom PHP, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS to support product logic, pricing, and checkout behavior
  • Configure and optimize Stripe payment processing, including taxes, fees, and multi-product checkout flows
  • Coordinate shipping logic and fulfillment rules (rates, zones, weight-based logic, product categories)
  • Connect backend product data to checkout and payment workflows
  • Implement APIs, webhooks, or automation tools as needed for order processing
  • Troubleshoot and resolve checkout, payment, or data-sync issues prior to launch
  • Collaborate with leadership, product, and operations teams to ensure launch readiness
  • Maintain security best practices and performance optimization
  • Support post-launch stabilization and scaling

Required Qualifications

  • Senior-level experience with WordPress and WooCommerce (5+ years preferred)
  • Strong proficiency in PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS
  • Proven experience integrating Stripe into WordPress/WooCommerce
  • Experience implementing custom checkout logic and product data handling
  • Knowledge of shipping integrations, logistics rules, and fulfillment workflows
  • Familiarity with APIs, webhooks, and third-party service integrations
  • Strong debugging, problem-solving, and deployment skills
  • Ability to work independently and deliver under launch deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience launching large product catalogs
  • Background in industrial, heavy equipment, or hardware-based e-commerce
