Senior WordPress & WooCommerce Developer

Aeternox Ltd is a UK-registered health technology company. We help men take control of their health through clinically accurate hormone testing and medication prescriptions, reviewed by a qualified doctor. We are a focused team building something with real ambition.A UK operation today, with plans to grow our physical presence internationally, including a base in Lahore.

We are at an early and exciting stage. The person we hire now will not be joining a company that is already built they will be one of the people who builds it. You will work closely with senior leadership, have direct input into technical decisions from day one, and lead junior and mid-level developers as the team grows.

THE CONTRACT

This is a long-term 12-month contract role paid monthly on a fixed retainer, directly to you. A mutual NDA is in place before any detailed briefing begins, full IP on all work produced belongs to Aeternox, and the notice period is 30 days on both sides.

There is a 90-day initial review period — we use it to make sure the work and the working relationship are right. We expect you to use it the same way.

Aeternox plans to establish physical operations in Lahore as the business grows. The role is fully remote for the foreseeable future, but we want people who see themselves as part of that chapter when it comes.

BEFORE YOU APPLY

If your background is mainly installing themes, configuring plugins, or building stores through a page builder, this is not the right role. We need someone who has written custom WordPress plugins from scratch, understands how WordPress and WooCommerce work under the hood, and writes PHP they would be comfortable with another senior developer reading.

We read every application carefully. The way you write tells us as much as the links you send.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

→ You lead from the front. When junior developers are stuck, you unblock them. When something is going wrong, you say so early.

→ Your written and spoken English is strong and professional. All communication with the UK team is in English. At times you will liaise with our laboratory partners on API integrations — your spoken English must be confident and clear.

→ You take a detailed specification and run with it — asking the right questions upfront rather than surfacing problems at the end.

→ You are available 14:00 to 18:00 PKT to overlap with UK business hours. Outside of that, your time is your own provided the work is delivered.

→ You write code as though someone else will maintain it, because at some point they will.

→ You review junior work constructively — not just checking for errors, but helping them understand why.

→ You find the next problem before being told about it.
