Responsibilities

• Greet guests promptly with a friendly smile and guide them to their tables, creating a positive first impression.
• Take accurate orders using POS system, ensuring all special requests and dietary needs are clearly communicated.
• Serve food and beverages efficiently while maintaining high standards of presentation and quality.
• Engage with guests to recommend menu items, upsell specials, and enhance their dining experience through personalized suggestions.
• Manage multiple tables effectively by prioritizing tasks, ensuring timely service, and maintaining attention to detail.
• Handle cash and credit card transactions accurately using POS systems like OpenTable or cashiering tools, balancing registers at shift end.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in all service areas, including bussing tables and assisting in food preparation when needed.
• Foster guest relations by addressing inquiries or concerns promptly, ensuring every guest feels valued and satisfied.
• Follow food safety protocols for handling food and beverages, adhering to sanitation regulations throughout your shift.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth communication between front-of-house and back-of-house teams for efficient service delivery.

Skills

• Proven experience in bar and restaurant environments, especially in pool hall or sports bar settings.
• Familiarity with POS systems.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage guests warmly while managing multiple priorities seamlessly.
• Excellent time management skills to handle busy service periods efficiently without compromising quality.
• Knowledge of food handling safety standards and sanitation practices to maintain a clean work environment.
• Understanding the importance of responsible alcohol service.
• Ability to upsell menu items confidently using sales techniques like suggestive selling or open-table recommendations.
• Basic math skills for cash handling, bill splitting, and transaction accuracy.
• Experience with food preparation or kitchen operations is a plus but not required; hospitality background preferred.
• Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members and ensure smooth service flow.
