Job Overview
A Server’s primary responsibility is to ensure exceptional dining experiences for guests. You are the face of the restaurant, the first point of contact for guests and responsible for creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. You interact directly with customers to take orders, provide menu recommendations, and deliver food and beverages promptly and accurately. You are responsible for the cleanliness, organization and table-turn of the restaurant, ensuring tables are promptly cleared and reset. A friendly and professional demeanor, attention to detail, strong work ethic, ability to multitask and a passion for delivering top-notch customer service are crucial to this role.A Barista is an integral part of a coffee shop's operations responsible for preparing and serving a variety of hot and cold beverages to customers, ensuring each cup is crafted with precision and care. Exceptional customer service skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of coffee will enable you to deliver a great service experience to every customer.
Duties
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee drinks and food items according to established recipes and standards.
- Operate the Toast POS system for order processing and cash handling.
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers, taking orders, and addressing any inquiries or concerns.
- Maintain cleanliness of the café area, including food preparation surfaces, equipment, and dining areas, adhering to food safety standards.
- Assist with inventory management by monitoring stock levels of coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other supplies.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations during peak hours.
- Engage in sales techniques to promote products and enhance the customer experience.
- Perform basic math calculations for drink preparation, order totals and cash handling transactions.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a customer service role, preferably in a restaurant or hospitality setting and/or as a Barista or in a similar role.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with guests and team members.
- Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to create a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for customers.
- Positive attitude, enjoyment of hospitality industry.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and communicate effectively with colleagues and guests.
- Attention to detail, ensuring accurate order-taking, payment processing, and the ability to maintain consistency in beverage quality and presentation.
- Knowledge of safety and sanitation practices in a restaurant setting.
- Knowledge of food and beverage menus, including dietary restrictions and allergies.
- A deep appreciation for coffee and a strong knowledge of different coffee beans, roasts, and brewing techniques or the ability and willingness to learn.
- Basic math skills for handling payments and calculating tips.
- Flexibility to work in shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, and carry trays for extended periods.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
