About the Role:
The Solar Service and Commissioning Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the successful installation and operation of solar energy systems. This position involves conducting thorough inspections, testing, and commissioning of solar installations to guarantee optimal performance and compliance with industry standards. The technician will also be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving any issues that arise during the commissioning process. By providing exceptional service and technical expertise, the technician will contribute to the overall efficiency and reliability of solar energy solutions. Ultimately, this role supports the company's mission to promote sustainable energy practices and enhance customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:

Service, troubleshoot, and perform warranty work on residential solar PV and battery systems in new home construction.

Activate and configure Enphase, Tesla, and SolarEdge systems, including batteries, inverters, gateways, and monitoring portals.

Diagnose electrical and communication issues such as wiring faults, low production, inverter errors, and network connectivity failures.

Repair or replace defective modules, inverters, wiring, breakers, labeling, and other BOS components as needed.

Validate system performance, complete commissioning checklists, and ensure systems meet safety and quality standards before homeowner turnover.

Communicate findings, timelines, and next steps clearly with customers, builders, and internal teams to ensure timely resolutions.

Maintain accurate documentation and service reports, including parts used, issues diagnosed, and corrective actions taken.

Update monitoring platforms and internal CRM/service systems to reflect completed work and system status.

Follow all OSHA, NEC, and company safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, PPE usage, and roof/ladder safety.
Qualifications:
-
Proven experience with Enphase battery systems, Tesla Powerwalls, and SolarEdge inverters
-
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
-
Knowledge of solar electrical systems and safety practices
-
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
-
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Minimum Qualifications:
-
High school diploma or equivalent.
-
Certification in solar energy technology or a related field.
-
Experience in electrical systems and troubleshooting.
-
Familiarity with local and national electrical codes.

Clean MVR (motor vehicle record) allowing operation of a company vehicle. SEE MVR REQUIREMENTS BELOW.
Skills/ Knowledge/ Abilities:

Strong understanding of electrical systems and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues effectively.

Attention to detail is essential, as the technician must ensure that all installations meet safety and performance standards.

Communication skills are important, as the technician will interact with customers and provide training on system operation.

Familiarity with industry/ building codes, enhancing the ability to navigate regulatory requirements efficiently.

Ability to push, pull, lift up to 50 lbs. consistently throughout the day.

Ability to operate company vehicle.

Ability to safely and correctly use calibration and electrical testing equipment.

Ability to operate motor vehicle regularly.

- -> Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) Requirements:
As part of the onboarding process, the Company will review the Employee’s driving history using a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check through a third-party provider.
The Candidate must meet the following minimum eligibility criteria:

Possess a valid driver’s license.
-
Have a minimum of 3 years of licensed driving experience.
-
No disqualifying violations (see definition below) within the past 5 years.
-
No pattern of high-risk driving behavior in the past 3–5 years, including repeated minor violations or at-fault accidents.
Ongoing MVR Monitoring:
-
Employee MVRs will be reviewed upon onboarding and monitored annually thereafter.
-
MVRs will be retained for a minimum of 3 years from the date of review for compliance purposes.
Disqualifying Violations:
The following violations within the past 5 years may result in automatic disqualification from driving a Company vehicle:

DUI/DWI or operating a vehicle under the influence.

Reckless or negligent driving.
-
Hit and run, or leaving the scene of an accident.
-
Driving with a suspended or revoked license.
-
Three (3) or more moving violations or at-fault accidents in a rolling 3-year period.
