Monday-Friday 7am-3pm 40 hours

Diagnoses & performs major & minor mechanical, electrical, & hydraulic repairs on self-propelled and non-self-propelled vehicles & equipment. Maintains gasoline, alternative fuel, & diesel engines; performs preventative maintenance & safety inspections of vehicles & equipment. When licensed by the DMV, may perform NYS Motor Vehicle Inspections. Welds, cuts, & brazes a variety of materials using electric or oxy-acetylene welding equipment. May supervise, train, & instruct subordinates. Orders, receives, & inventories supplies & parts for vehicle maintenance & repairs.
Minimum Qualifications: 4 yrs of experience as an automotive or diesel mechanic responsible for the diagnosis of faulty vehicle and/or equipment operation & the performance of mechanical repairs covering several aspects of automotive and/or diesel systems OR an associate's degree in automotive or diesel repair technology. Substitution: Education as detailed below may be substituted for a maximum of 2 yrs experience. Graduation from a tech or voc program, such as BOCES, in automotive or diesel tech or automotive or diesel repair tech may be substituted for 1 yr of experience. Graduation from a 1 yr post high school certification program in automotive or diesel repair tech may be substituted for 2 yrs exp. Must possess valid NYS driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.
