Job Description:
An HVAC service technician installs, maintains, and repairs heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, including troubleshooting issues, performing routine maintenance, and replacing worn parts. Key responsibilities include diagnosing system malfunctions, ensuring safety compliance, and providing customer service by explaining problems and recommending solutions. Technicians must be physically strong, adept with tools and blueprints, and possess strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Installation: Installing residential, commercial, and industrial HVAC equipment.
- Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning components and checking for leaks, to ensure efficient and safe operation.
- Repair: Diagnosing and troubleshooting system malfunctions, then performing appropriate repairs by fixing or replacing worn or defective parts.
- Inspection: Inspecting and testing HVAC systems and their components.
- Customer Service: Communicating with customers to explain system issues, provide maintenance recommendations, and discuss potential upgrades.
- Record Keeping: Maintaining detailed logs of work performed, including maintenance, repairs, and parts used.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Technical Skills:Proficiency in reading electrical and mechanical diagrams, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
- Diagnostic Abilities:Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills to identify and solve complex system problems.
- Physical Stamina:Ability to work in various and potentially extreme temperatures and to maneuver heavy equipment.
- Customer Interaction:Excellent communication and customer service skills to build rapport and effectively explain technical issues.
- Attention to Detail:Meticulous record-keeping and a commitment to safety and compliance with regulations.
