The metal packaging market is forecasted to grow significantly over the next several years because brand owners continue to choose infinitely recyclable metal packaging solutions over plastic or glass.
Position Summary:
As an Innovation & Assembly Technician, End Metal Container Systems at DRT, you will report to the Assembly and Service Manager where you will primarily collaborate with engineering teams to assemble, troubleshoot and optimize production machines/systems utilized in the high-speed production of food and beverage ends; secondary you will support Innovation Projects to assemble, test, and provide feedback to improve machines/systems.
Responsibilities:
Read mechanical drawings and BOMs to assemble, measure, test, improve, and qualify tooling assemblies and complete systems used in the high-speed production of easy open ends. Additional responsibilities include:

Ability to setup complex tooling assemblies from assembly diagrams, GD&T tolerancing, detail drawings, and/or models.

Projects will include new systems, retrofits to old systems, rebuilds of old dies to new condition, buy-offs of tooling and die components.

Support Innovation with project developments, including samples run-off, production runs, testing and additional support.

Ability to inspect, measure and document tooling component settings to ensure efficient assembly, operation, design intent, and final approval of the customer.

Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, R&D and commercial teams to provide project updates, challenges, and timelines.

Balance Project time as needed as with a goal of 20% R&D and 80% assembly of systems. This will evolve and change as demand changes, but this is the expectation to support the Innovation team for testing and proof of concept on new projects.

Ability to be customer facing and represent the DRT brand in a positive and professional manner.

Ability to read wiring diagrams and perform wiring as need.

Use of Microsoft Excel, Outlook email and calendar, PowerPoint as needed.

Navigate ERP system for time tracking and part information (rev, BOM, venders, order).

Ability to travel in an emergency service situation and perform field service typically during the installation of new systems, or the troubleshooting of existing systems, estimated travel 5%.

Ability to test samples and summarize root-causes to support the field service visits.
