Service Technician - Electrical - Renewable Gas / Anerobic Digestion

Job Overview

The Field Service Technician Electrical I II is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems in industrial environments, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and technical standards. This role involves diagnosing electrical faults, conducting inspections, as well as ensuring proper documentation and continuous improvements in electrical system performance.

For Electrical Technical Level 2, additional responsibilities include team supervision, work delegation, training coordination, and compliance monitoring on electrical installations.

Key Responsibilities:

Electrical System Installation & Maintenance:

Perform installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and commissioning of electrical equipment and control systems.

Carry out modifications and retrofitting of electrical components, including parameterization and programming.

Measure and analyze electrical functions and system performance to ensure operational efficiency.

Conduct initial and periodic inspections of electrical installations, grounding systems, and, where applicable, lightning protection systems.

Ensure technical support for commissioning processes and problem-solving on site.

Build and modify electrical control cabinets based on project needs.

Quality Control & Compliance:

Conduct electrical system inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and technical standards.

Create measurement and test protocols, ensuring full traceability of components and wiring.

Adhere to industry standards, including ISO, IEC, and ATEX regulations where applicable.

Ensure compliance with electrical explosion protection guidelines (certified personnel preferred).

Oversee proper documentation of installations, inspections, modifications, and service records.

Technical Leadership & Process Optimization Level II

Supervise and coordinate the activities of electrical service teams, ensuring proper work delegation and compliance with procedures.

Conduct on-site training and technical guidance for technicians and electricians.

Implement preventive and corrective maintenance strategies for electrical systems.

Organize team scheduling, job assignments, and performance monitoring.

Ensure project completion within budget and time constraints, collaborating with project managers.

Support hiring, onboarding, and evaluation of technical personnel.

Compliance & Reporting:

Ensure strict adherence to QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment) standards, internal policies, and external regulations.

Participate in safety audits, toolbox talks, and risk assessments related to electrical operations.

Promote a safe working environment and ensure compliance with local and international safety regulations.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

Reduction in electrical system failures and improvement in system uptime.

Percentage of inspections passing first-time acceptance without non-conformance issues.

Completion rate of scheduled maintenance tasks within planned timeframes.

Compliance with safety and regulatory standards

Team training and competency improvement measures (for Electrical & Automation Technician level 2).

Profile

Qualifications & Experiences:

Vocational diploma or Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, or related.

+3 years of experience in industrial electrical maintenance, and field service.

Proficiency in power distribution, control circuits, and electrical testing tools (multimeters, insulation testers, oscilloscopes).

Experience with ERP (IFS) and CMMS tools (preferably MS Dynamics NAV).

Knowledge in switchgear construction, automation systems, and explosion protection.

Certified Lightning Protection Specialist (if applicable).

Advanced IT proficiency in business applications, including field service management tools

Fluent in the local language and English, another language is a plus.

Accountability

Accountable for executing assigned maintenance, installation, and commissioning tasks under supervision or technical guidance. Ensures personal compliance with safety protocols and quality standards.

Accountable for end-to-end task delivery, including work planning, execution quality, compliance assurance, and reporting. Takes ownership of small projects or delegated team activities.

Problem Solving & Decision-Making

Solves standard technical problems in electrical systems using checklists, SOPs, and diagnostics tools. Escalates complex issues to senior technicians or supervisors.

Independently solves complex electrical faults, recommends retrofits or preventive measures, and adjusts systems based on field diagnostics. Participates in root cause analysis.

People Management & Relations

Works collaboratively within a small team. Receives guidance from more experienced colleagues. responsibilities.

Leads electrical work packages. Delegates tasks, provides technical guidance, conducts on-the-job training, and ensures team adherence to procedures and HSE rules.

Know-How (job specifics and years of experiences)

3+ years of experience in industrial environments. Proficient in basic electrical installation, troubleshooting, and documentation. Uses standard tools and test equipment.

5+ years field experience, including supervision.

Advanced know-how in electrical system diagnostics, switchgear integration, ATEX compliance, and control panel modifications.

Pay: £40,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
