About the Role:

Meirowitz & Wasserberg is seeking to bring on a new Settlement Letter Clerk. This role is responsible for preparing and sending final settlement packets to clients, including disbursement letters and settlement checks. The ideal candidate has strong organizational skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive client information with confidentiality and professionalism. This role is based full-time in our Midtown Manhattan office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft and prepare final disbursement letters summarizing the settlement breakdown for Asbestos and some Personal Injury cases.
  • Coordinate the timely and accurate mailing of settlement checks and accompanying documents to clients.
  • Verify that all deductions (legal fees, liens, medical bills, etc.) are properly documented in the final letter.
  • Ensure all client communications are clear, accurate, and aligned with firm standards.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, case managers, and accounting staff to confirm settlement details.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of all disbursements and letters sent.
  • Handle follow-up communication related to mailed checks and final letters when necessary.

Have:

  • Prior experience in a legal, administrative, or client services role (Plaintiff Personal Injury experience preferred).
  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy in preparing documents.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and case management software (SmartAdvocate experience is a plus).
  • Prioritize and manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously

The quoted salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, location, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
