Severance Tax Consultant – Oil & Gas Tax Services We have an immediate opening for a Severance Tax Consultant specializing in severance tax compliance and tax minimization for oil and gas clients. This is a high-impact role in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment where technical expertise meets collaborative teamwork. This position is available in our Rockwall, TX (east of Dallas) or Houston, TX office.

What You'll Do: As a core member of our Severance Tax team, you will manage compliance and tax minimization across a portfolio of oil and gas clients in multiple states. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Researching and analyzing severance tax issues across various state jurisdictions
• Preparing and filing accurate monthly severance tax compliance filings on time
• Working with large datasets and various accounting software platforms to support tax reporting
• Communicating directly with clients and representatives at regulatory and taxing authorities
• Maintaining thorough documentation in support of state tax audits and internal controls
• Staying current on state tax laws, rules, rulings, deductions, and exemptions
• Collaborating with the oil and gas department to identify and support deductions and exemptions
• Contributing to research in support of client proposals

What We're Looking For:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
• 2+ years of severance tax experience with demonstrated knowledge of oil and gas severance tax compliance required
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and intermediate knowledge of Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage and interpret large volumes of data
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills — you can engage confidently with clients and taxing authorities alike
• Experience with oil and gas JIB, general ledger, or joint venture auditing a plus
• Familiarity with Texas Petro software a plus
• High attention to detail with a deadline-driven mindset
