We are seeking a skilled Sewing Machinist / Pattern Developer to join our team. This role combines industrial sewing, upholstery, and new product development. In addition to producing high-quality upholstered components, this individual will work closely with our team and customers to develop patterns, prototypes, and manufacturing solutions for new seating and upholstery products.
The ideal candidate has experience operating industrial sewing equipment, creating, or modifying patterns, and takes pride in producing quality craftsmanship while helping bring new products from concept to production.
Responsibilities
- Operate industrial sewing machines and upholstery equipment.
- Cut, sew, assemble, and upholster fabric, vinyl, leather, foam, and other materials.
- Develop, modify, and refine patterns for new and existing products.
- Assist with prototyping and product development activities.
- Measure, mark, and layout materials to ensure proper fit, alignment, and efficient material utilization.
- Install foam, batting, and upholstery materials on seating, cushions, panels, and other products.
- Collaborate with engineering and production to improve designs and manufacturability.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Support other production and assembly operations as needed.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in sewing, upholstery, pattern development, or related manufacturing fields.
- Experience operating industrial sewing machines.
- Ability to create, modify, or work from patterns and templates.
- Strong understanding of fabric behavior, material selection, and upholstery techniques.
- Ability to read drawings, specifications, and production documents.
- Experience using hand tools, measuring devices, and basic shop equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship.
- Reliable attendance and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
- Ability to learn new products, processes, and manufacturing techniques.
