SF BAY AREA PROJECT COORDINATOR & JUNIOR DESIGNER — Thisisroy.com
Growing hospitality branding and interior design firm seeks a Project Coordinator & Junior Designer local to the SF Bay Area. We are loved by chefs and trusted by restaurateurs. Help us realize our most exciting projects yet. We are considering candidates for this exciting role who currently reside in San Francisco or within the Bay Area.
About You
● A Bay Area–based designer with 2–4 years of professional experience in architecture or interior design. On-site installation, construction, or fabrication experience is a plus.
● You are quick-thinking and resourceful — comfortable making informed decisions in real time, asking smart questions on site, and adapting as project realities evolve. You enjoy being “boots on the ground.”
● You are equally comfortable in spreadsheets as you are in SketchUp or AutoCAD. You understand that tracking budgets, maintaining schedules, logging submittals, and organizing procurement data are creative acts that directly support design excellence.
● You possess strong instincts and good taste — and you are eager to refine them through exposure to boutique hospitality projects.
● You are highly organized and understand how documentation, record-keeping, and clear communication preserve design intent and keep projects moving.
● You have a strong understanding of time management and task priorities as they relate to design production, billing cycles, procurement timelines, and construction duration.
● You are curious, collaborative, adaptable, and precise. You can contribute meaningfully in team meetings, and you can also work independently to problem-solve and move a task forward without constant oversight.
● You are excited about bringing restaurant spaces to life — and about understanding how concept, documentation, budgeting, fabrication, and installation all connect to the final built result.
● You are local to the SF Bay Area and comfortable supporting on-site installations, site visits, and vendor coordination as needed.

Responsibilities
● Support project managers and lead designers from concept through installation
● Assist in developing presentation materials, mood boards, finish palettes, and FF&E specifications
● Produce drawings and assist in informing the production of construction documentation sets, including plans, elevations, and custom details.
● Coordinate with vendors, fabricators, consultants, and contractors
● Conduct materials research, sourcing, and sample organization
● Assist with procurement tracking, budgets, schedules, and project timelines
● Support on-site installations and ensure design intent is executed accurately, in partnership with senior designers and senior project managers, but growing your ability to oversee tasks independently
● Maintain organized digital files and physical project materials
● Help facilitate internal workflow systems and communication - be a great connector & communicator
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or related field
● 2–4 years of professional experience
● Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit or equivalent programs, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator). We are a Revit-based office and - although it will not be the focus of your role, exposure to this and EnScape will be an asset.
● Familiarity with project management tools and organized file systems. Comfort working in spreadsheets (Google Sheets or Excel) and project tracking tools.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills
● Detail-oriented, proactive, and solution-oriented

● Become fluent in Roy’s design process and internal systems.
● Help elevate standards for documentation, communication, and organization across projects.
● Contribute to a positive, collaborative studio culture.
● Seek feedback actively and demonstrate a clear desire to grow into increased responsibility over time.
Additional Skills
● Ability to drive and travel to project sites in and around the San Francisco Bay Area.
● Ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs. Job does not require regular physical labor, but may require assisting during installations.
