WRT is seeking a talented Summer Intern(s) to join our Landscape Architecture team in San Francisco.

This role is Part-Time, working up to 24 hours per week.

Our work serves communities across the country facing climate risks, lack of equitable access to open space, and degraded urban environments. We bring positive impact to these challenging issues through community-based design and planning where we engage diverse audiences and think creatively. Our sensitive and engaging approach to transforming open space creates places that let people experience and understand their geography and natural systems, reflect on local heritage, and culture, and maximize the value ingrained in their landscape. We’re looking for a highly motivated candidate(s) that shares WRT’s values and collaborative spirit to work on a diverse variety of public and private landscape project types such as parks, plazas, waterfronts, trails, streetscapes, cultural and civic spaces, and campuses. Community engagement is central to our design process and the candidate(s) will participate in this process.

Pay Range: $23.00 - $26.00/hour

Typical Job Functions:

• Informing projects with design ideas
• Preparation of renderings & visual communication graphics
• Preparation of base maps and necessary data gathering
• Working with team members across the firm
• Coordinating multiple tasks across projects
• Field reconnaissance and site analysis
• Collaborating to solve design challenges between disciplines
• Support on community design

Requirements:

• You will be graduating in the spring of 2026 with a Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture.

Qualifications/Skills Preferred:

• Be comfortable working in a fast-paced and interdisciplinary environment
• Possess design skills with the ability to think at multiple scales and demonstrate design innovation and creativity
• Have the ability to clearly articulate design concepts, processes, and solutions via verbal and written communications, as well as outstanding graphic representations
• Experience with: Sketching/drawing, AutoCAD, 3D Modeling (SketchUp/Rhino), Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop & Illustrator), and Microsoft (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Have a general understanding of ecosystem functions and threats, across geographies, from coastal and estuarine environments to high country and the wildland urban interface
• Be familiar with landscape regions, physical geography, and natural resource distribution across California
• Interest in the intersection of urban social issues such as communities-at-risk, public health, access to open space, resource scarcity, and green infrastructure systems thinking
