Job Title: Shift IN charge – Critical Area
Job Summary:
The Shift IN charge – Critical Area oversees the nursing team and patient care operations in critical areas such as ICU, MICU, PICU, or CCU during their shift. This role ensures high-quality patient care, adherence to protocols, smooth workflow, and coordination between multidisciplinary teams while providing leadership and guidance to nursing staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate nursing staff during the shift in critical care areas.
- Ensure that critically ill patients receive timely, safe, and effective care.
- Monitor patient status, review vital signs, and respond to emergencies promptly.
- Delegate tasks appropriately to nursing staff, ensuring workload balance and efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with hospital protocols, infection control standards, and safety regulations.
- Assist in patient admissions, discharges, and transfers within the critical area.
- Conduct bedside rounds, evaluate patient care, and guide staff in best practices.
- Maintain accurate patient records, shift reports, and documentation.
- Coordinate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other multidisciplinary team members.
- Mentor, train, and support junior nursing staff in critical care procedures.
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid nursing license.
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (B.Sc Nursing preferred).
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in critical care nursing; prior experience as a senior nurse or in charge role preferred.
- Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Strong knowledge of critical care protocols, emergency procedures, and ICU equipment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to assist in patient care, handle medical equipment, and work long shifts in high-stress environments.
