**Job Title**Shift Manager – Quality (Raw Material)

**Department**Quality Control / Raw Material Handling System (RMHS)

**Reporting To**Manager / Head – Quality (Raw Materials)

**Job Purpose**To ensure effective quality inspection, monitoring, and control of incoming raw materials (iron ore, coal, coke, limestone, dolomite, etc.) at the integrated steel plant. Responsible for sampling, analysis, and adherence to specified quality standards to support uninterrupted and cost-efficient production.

**Key Responsibilities

**1. **Raw Material Inspection & Testing*** Supervise and monitor quality inspection of incoming raw materials at RMHS, stockyards, and unloading points.* Ensure correct sampling methods as per BIS/ISO standards.* Coordinate with laboratory for timely analysis of chemical and physical properties.* Verify quality against purchase specifications and raise deviations if found.

2. **Shift Operations Management*** Manage quality control operations during the shift for all incoming raw materials.* Ensure sampling and testing equipment are functioning properly.* Monitor weighbridge & unloading operations for compliance with quality standards.* Prepare shift-wise quality reports and hand over to next shift.

3. **Coordination & Communication*** Liaise with procurement, logistics, RMHS, sinter plant, and coke oven teams regarding material quality issues.* Report non-conformance and recommend corrective measures.* Coordinate with external agencies/suppliers in case of disputes on quality.

4. **Compliance & Documentation*** Maintain accurate records of sampling, testing, and inspection results.* Ensure adherence to ISO, BIS, and internal quality norms.* Support ISO, NABL, and other quality audits.

5. **People & Safety Management*** Supervise sampling and inspection teams in the shift.* Train and guide staff on updated inspection techniques and safety protocols.* Ensure safe work practices during sampling, unloading, and testing activities.

**Key Skills & Competencies

* Strong knowledge of raw materials used in steelmaking (iron ore, coal, fluxes, coke).

* Hands-on experience in raw material sampling and laboratory analysis.

* Familiarity with BIS/ISO quality standards for raw materials.

* Good communication and coordination skills.

* Shift management and team handling capability.

* Safety & compliance orientation.

**Qualification & Experience

*** B.Sc. / M.Sc. (Chemistry) or Diploma / B.Tech in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, or related field.

* 5–10 years of experience in quality control of raw materials in steel / mining / mineral-based industry.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
