Sofidel America of Duluth is currently seeking a Converting Shift Supervisor.
This role will work a modified shift schedule during the ramp up period. This is the first of 4 positions that will work together to provide support for the plant operations. Your expertise will make you an important part of our team!
The Shift Supervisor will be responsible for providing support, direction, and ensuring compliance with established work standards. This individual will supervise the converting department's activities, including setting up materials for work orders, assigning production orders to production lines, and organizing converting teams to maintain production, all while adhering to existing policies and precedence.

Essential Functions:
  • Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all safety procedures and equipment operating guidelines, and by keeping work areas clean, organized, and hazard-free.
  • Support facility-wide safety, quality, and employee accountability in accordance with established standards and policies.
  • Provide daily direction to Converting team members, supporting issue investigation, resolution, and efficient shift operations.
  • Evaluate employee performance and provide coaching, guidance, and training to support skill development and performance improvement.
  • Participate in personnel actions including promotions, transfers, disciplinary actions, and terminations in coordination with the Converting Manager and Assistant Converting Manager.
  • Communicate current and anticipated staffing levels, staffing concerns, and new employee training needs to ensure safe and effective operations.
  • Inspect the production area prior to the start of each shift and conduct pre-shift meetings to review safety expectations and production schedules.
  • Partner with the Safety Manager to implement corrective action plans for injuries or safety incidents and complete all required incident and injury reports.
  • Communicate promptly with the Quality team regarding immediate quality concerns and provide follow up to ensure an appropriate resolution is in place.
  • Monitor machine run speeds and changeover activities and notify maintenance and support teams of issues or needs as appropriate.
  • Review production and performance data from the Supervision System to verify that production goals and requirements are met.
  • Perform or assist with operational tasks as needed to maintain workflow, meet production deadlines, and uphold quality standards.
  • Manage equipment, material, and supply issues and communicate concerns to the appropriate departments or leadership.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned by management.
Job Requirements:
  • Associate’s degree or a minimum of three years’ related experience is required.
  • 2+ years of experience managing a production team within a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Strong electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and troubleshooting experience is preferred.
  • Strong sense of job ownership/accountability with effective verbal and written communication skills to supervise team members.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required when in the plant and warehouse areas. PPE will include safety shoes, eye and ear protection, reflective vests and hairnets or hats along with any other necessary protection. Temperatures in the plant/warehouse can range a great deal from season to season. The employee will be exposed to considerable paper dust and employees will also be exposed to noise levels that will require hearing protection.
