Shipper/Sandblaster - 1st shift

Summary:

Duties include understanding and implementing job-specific functions. The employee must pay attention to detail and be a self-starter. Working well with co-workers is extremely important. The employee will need to operate a forklift; crane and grinding tool; must have basic math and writing skills; and be able to count and record ID numbers. The employee must undergo a pulmonary test by a licensed physician to qualify for this position.

Duties:

· Operate Wheelabrator

· Operate sandblaster – put consistent finish on parts with sandblaster

· Operate pneumatic grind tools, PIVs, and strapping tool

· Operate hoist/Inspect hoist system

· Operate aging oven

· Inspect product prior to shipping

· Load and unload trucks

· Read & interpret spec sheets

· Identify castings to be conforming or not, and box

· Remove Packing Slips and process accordingly

· Receive and distribute PO’s and incoming paperwork for description and number of packages

· Perform inventory accounting

· Verify ingot, Tibor, and mag stick compliance with applicable

· Report out in scheduling meetings

· Complete department safety sheets

· Clean and maintain area

· Perform other duties or assignments as directed by management

Critical Raw Material Specification:

· Receive raw materials

· Unload material from carrier and store in designated area(s)

· Check for damage to packages

- If damaged, record nature and extent of damage on paperwork; take photo(s) before unloading

- If damaged extensively, refuse delivery

- Use caution when unloading chemicals

- If damaged and/or leaking chemical, refuse delivery

· Sign and date paperwork; keep copies of signed paperwork.

· Receive returned castings

· Store RMA material in designated area and contact Quality dept. for disposition by forwarding packing slip. If no RMA, store material in designated area and notify Quality.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education/Experience:
No specific education or certification is required, however, a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience is desired. Ability to read/interpret prints/models is required.

Language Ability:
Ability to read and write

Math Ability:
Must have basic math skills including ability to add and subtract; ability to measure with caliper or other measuring device to compare to print/model.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of database software for reviewing work instructions. Work with Odyssey software and digital scale.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. A pulmonary fit test and training class are required before an employee can perform sandblasting duties. This employee must also wear a respirator hood which requires training and fit-testing before the hood can be worn.

Palmer Foundry works with the defense and aerospace sectors and is an ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations)-controlled facility. This means our operations, data, and projects are subject to the U.S. ITAR regulations. To work with these controlled items and technical data, all employees must meet specific eligibility requirements, primarily being a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen, Lawful Permanent Resident, or Asylee/Refugee), and complete mandatory training on safeguarding this sensitive information to protect national security. I am required to confirm with each candidate their status and, and their willingness to complete mandatory ITAR training if they are selected for the internship, to ensure we protect sensitive national security information.
