Shipping and Receiving Specialist

Summary:

The Parts Counter Associates are responsible for the efficient handling and control of our parts inventory, as well as providing exceptional customer support to our retail and commercial customers. A successful parts counter associate will have strong communication and organization skills, a basic understanding of maintenance & repair, strong attention to detail, ability to provide top-notch service, and a dedication to honesty and fairness.

Position Overview

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Warehouse Shipping & Receiving Handler to support daily operations within a petroleum-based installation, service, and testing company. This role is critical to maintaining accurate inventory, efficient material flow, and a clean, organized facility. The ideal candidate is hands-on, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working in both warehouse and customer-facing environments.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory & Material Management

  • Assist Management with inventory counts (cyclical, monthly, and annual)
  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming equipment and materials
  • Accurately log and track inventory using serial numbers, part numbers, and bin locations
  • Maintain proper labeling, tagging, and bin organization of all stock items

Shipping & Receiving

  • Prepare outgoing shipments, including packaging, palletizing, and documentation
  • Coordinate freight pickups and deliveries with carriers and vendors
  • Verify packing slips for shipment accuracy
  • Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently
  • Verify condition of equipment prior to signing for it

Warehouse Operations

  • Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely
  • Maintain warehouse cleanliness, organization, and efficiency
  • Assist with general property maintenance (lawn care, facility upkeep, etc.)
  • Perform heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks daily

Assembly & Equipment Preparation

  • Assemble above-ground single-wall and double-wall fuel tanks for delivery or customer pickup
  • Install and secure associated components (fittings, vents, gauges, piping connections, etc.)
  • Stage and prepare completed assemblies for transport to job sites
  • Ensure all assembled equipment meets company standards and job specifications

Customer & Team Support

  • Assist customers at the parts counter with professionalism and products needed
  • Pull and stage parts for service technicians and field crews
  • Coordinate with project managers and service teams for material readiness
  • Provide general support to warehouse and field operations as needed

Additional Responsibilities (Typical for Role)

  • Maintain accurate warehouse records and assist with inventory system updates
  • Follow all company safety policies, including PPE and hazard communication
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining warehouse organization systems
  • Support emergency or expedited material requests for service calls
  • Participate in periodic safety meetings and training

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
  • Ability to understand and manage:
  • Serial numbers
  • Part numbers
  • Bin/location systems
  • Mechanical aptitude with ability to assemble equipment and components
  • Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills
  • Ability to lift heavy materials and work in a physically demanding environment
  • Forklift experience preferred (or willingness to be trained/certified)
  • Strong interpersonal skills – must be a “people person”
  • Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated

Work Environment

  • Warehouse and outdoor work environment
  • Exposure to petroleum equipment and related materials
  • Fast-paced, hands-on operational setting

Education and Experience:

Must have High School Diploma or GED equivalent

1 year of Part Counter Sales and or Inventory Control is recommended

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
