Position Summary:

The Shipping Supervisor oversees all outbound plant and tree material—from pulling and verification to staging, loading, and equipment readiness. This role directs shipping crews, coordinates closely with all operational and sales team activity, and ensures that plant and tree material are properly organized and loaded onto various trailers and vehicles for regional shipments with the highest standards met for our clients.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Lead and direct shipping crews daily as they pull plant material from home locations and stage areas based on pick lists.
• Verify accuracy of all pulled materials prior to loading, ensuring correct counts, sizes, and varieties.
• Collaborate daily with the Receiving Supervisor to reconcile staged materials, discrepancies, or shortages before problems arise.
• Monitor tractor, loader, and various equipment used for loading for readiness in daily use; report service needs to Maintenance.
• Maintain strong yard organization standards — clear lanes, functional work areas, and a safe environment for crews and nursery yard staff.
• Assign daily tasks, coach and train nursery loading crews, and ensure a high level of productivity and accountability are maitained.

What Makes You a Strong Fit:

• Proven leadership in operations, logistics, or complex nursery/shipping environments.
• Knowledge of plant handling, staging, and safe transport practices.
• Experience operating and maintaining tractors, loaders, and nursery loading equipment.
• Ability to coordinate multiple teams, pivot quickly when needed, and stay organized under pressure.
• High attention to detail and a commitment to safety and accuracy.
• Clear communication skills and a team-first mindset.

Requirements

Education & Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s degree in horticulture, agriculture, operations, or management preferred (not required).
• Minimum 4 years of experience in a supervisory role.
• Prior logistics, shipping, nursery, greenhouse, or horticulture experience required.

Physical Requirements:

• This position may include long hours spent standing, walking, bending, lifting, climbing, reaching, and stretching.
• Occasional lifting and/or moving up to fifty (50) pounds.
• The position may also require climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
• Repetitive motions of the hands, wrists, and elbows may be required in this position to operate small, motorized equipment.

Working Conditions:

• This position is performed in an outdoor setting that may expose employee to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet to loud.
• This position may require a flexible schedule and periodic overtime, as needed.

Schedule:

• Full-time, 8 a.m to 5 p.m, Monday–Friday, with occasional overtime or flexible hours based on operational needs.

Compensation:

• Starting range of $24-$26 / hour, depending on experience.
