Shopify Backend Developer – Expert (On-Site)

We are a fast-growing e-commerce company looking for a highly skilled Shopify Backend Developer with deep expertise in Shopify’s ecosystem. Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and optimize custom Shopify backend applications, including private and public apps.
• Build and enhance Shopify API integrations (Admin API, Storefront API, GraphQL).
• Work with databases, custom middleware, and server-side logic to support advanced functionality.
• Implement and manage Shopify Scripts, Functions, and Flow automations.
• Develop custom checkout experiences and backend logic using Shopify Plus tools.
• Troubleshoot backend technical issues and implement scalable performance improvements.
• Collaborate closely with front-end developers, designers, and project managers.
• Ensure security, stability, and performance across all backend systems.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend development experience (Shopify ecosystem required).
• Expert-level experience with:
• Shopify Admin API & Storefront API
• GraphQL / REST
• Shopify Plus tooling (Functions, Scripts, Checkout Extensibility)
• Liquid (strong knowledge, even though it’s front-facing)
• Proficiency in backend languages/frameworks such as Node.js, TypeScript, or Ruby.
• Experience with custom app development using Shopify App Bridge and OAuth.
• Strong understanding of webhooks, event-based architectures, and API rate limits.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, and cloud hosting (AWS, GCP, DigitalOcean).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Nice to Have

• Experience with headless commerce setups (e.g., Next.js, Hydrogen, Remix).
• Experience with subscription systems (Recharge, Bold, Skio).
• Knowledge of performance and conversion optimization for Shopify stores.
