Job Summary
Doer Signs is seeking a Sign Fabricator Helper to support the fabrication team in the production of high-quality architectural signage. This position assists experienced fabricators and welders in preparing materials, assembling components, and ensuring that projects are completed according to engineering drawings and customer specifications.
The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a manufacturing or fabrication shop environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist fabricators with weld preparation, welding, and finishing operations according to engineering drawings and customer specifications.
- Help fabricate, assemble, and repair metal components used in sign production.
- Assist with cutting, burning, grinding, and welding various metals as directed by the lead fabricator.
- Assemble parts using methods such as bolting, riveting, or adhesive bonding.
- Prepare materials for welding by removing burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale.
- Operate and assist with fabrication equipment including press brakes, shears, and metal forming equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance on welding and fabrication equipment as required.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in compliance with safety regulations.
- Read and follow work orders, shop drawings, and blueprints to complete assigned tasks.
- Work collaboratively with supervisors and team members to ensure production deadlines are met.
- Operate shop equipment and tools necessary to complete assigned work.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in architectural sign fabrication or metal fabrication preferred.
- Experience with MIG, TIG, or stick welding is a plus.
- Familiarity with press brakes, shears, and other fabrication equipment preferred.
- Ability to read blueprints, shop drawings, and tape measurements.
- Basic understanding of geometry and measurements preferred.
- Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and follow instructions.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced shop environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to stand, bend, and move for extended periods during the work shift.
- Ability to safely operate shop tools and fabrication equipment.
Additional Requirements
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- Must pass a background check.
- Willingness to work overtime when required to meet production schedules.
