Key Functions

Teachers at Anahuacalmecac International University Preparatory of North America (AIUPNA) create a digitally-progressive and indigenous, CULTURALLY-ROOTED learning environment, where students can demonstrate thoughtful and ethical behavior and ensure that the values and principles of a school leader are at the heart of learning and relationships in the school.
They will support the personal and academic development of students in their advisory group and contribute to extra-curricular and community and service activities. The following list serves to illustrate the scope and responsibilities of the post and is not intended to be an exhaustive list of duties. Teachers are expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by the development of this role as the practice develops, and the overall educational objectives of the practice change. Teachers must be prepared to teach in an urban inner-city context with working class, indigenous, migrant families and teachers.

Subject Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Implement the charter of the AIUPNA
  • Develop and implement culturally relevant curriculum designed to engage indigenous students and families
  • Plan and teach lessons following the curriculum that differentiate for individual student needs and support students whose first language is not English.
  • Use a wide range of technologies and creative teaching styles.
  • Regularly contribute to curriculum planning and development including interdisciplinary units of work and the development of transdisciplinary skills.
  • Plan with colleagues to deliver effective team teaching when possible.
  • Develop assessment tasks following guidelines and use a wide range of formative assessment tools.
  • Attend regular curriculum planning.

Requirements

  • Single Subject Credential
  • Experience working and educating in inner-city context, with working class, indigenous, migrant students, families, and teachers.
  • Highly reliable.
  • Highly organized.
  • Excellent ability to multitask and prioritize in a busy, fast-growth environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and follow‐through.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • California driver’s license and car insurance.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Employees in this job title are subject to the terms and conditions of an employment contract. Employment contracts are typically subject to review and renewal on an annual basis.
  • Employees in this job must reside in the project area and have the ability to work directly with the project beneficiaries.

Licensing and Certification Requirements

  • Daily driving could be required, must provide own vehicle, valid Driver's License and proof of full vehicle insurance coverage
  • Negative tuberculosis screen (required)
  • Must pass criminal background check
  • California Teaching Credential
