Job Summary

Join Ward J50 within Abdominal Medicine and Surgery at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, where you will play a key role in delivering compassionate, high-quality care to Nephrology and Transplant patients. Based at St James’s Hospital, this role sits within a large and complex CSU, supporting both the multidisciplinary team and the day to day running of a 20-bedded Female inpatient ward. You will be actively involved in a wide range of patient care duties, contributing to the planning, delivery and evaluation of care, while helping to maintain a safe and effective clinical environment.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is passionate about patient-centred care and able to lead and support colleagues within a busy ward setting. You will demonstrate strong clinical skills, initiative and the ability to work collaboratively, while also deputising for the Senior Sister when required. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is committed to maintaining high standards, contributing to service improvement and making a meaningful difference to patient experience within a specialist renal and transplant service.

What you will bring to the role

You will bring strong leadership skills with the ability to support the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse in guiding and motivating the clinical team to deliver safe, high-quality, patient-centred care. You will be committed to creating a positive patient experience while fostering effective teamwork and collaboration across the ward. With a proactive approach, you will anticipate challenges, manage risks and contribute to maintaining a safe and efficient care environment. You will also support aspects of staff management, including performance, attendance and workforce planning, while helping to ensure appropriate staffing levels to meet patient needs. In addition, you will contribute to recruitment activities, support the use of bank staf, and respond appropriately to incidents, concerns and complaints.
