Job Summary:Accountable for direct supervision of site execution activities for assigned works, ensuring all construction is carried out strictly per approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and quality standards. Acts as the technical lead on-site, coordinating with foremen, subcontractors, QA/QC, and project engineers to maintain high standards of workmanship, safety, and schedule adherence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise multiple foremen and their teams to ensure day-to-day construction activities are executed precisely according to IFC drawings, shop drawings, and project specifications.
- Review method statements and detailed work procedures with foremen prior to execution to ensure full understanding of technical and safety requirements.
- Inspect and verify reinforcement placement, formwork, and concrete pours, ensuring correct bar bending schedules (BBS) implementation, cover, spacing, and compaction are in line with structural engineer’s design and standards.
- Monitor and supervise finishing works such as plastering, tiling, waterproofing, and painting, ensuring materials and workmanship meet approved samples and project specs.
- Coordinate with the QA/QC team during inspections and tests, preparing and maintaining detailed records of non-conformances, site instructions, and corrective actions.
- Verify that materials received on site comply with approved material submittals and are stored according to manufacturer and project requirements to prevent damage or deterioration.
- Liaise closely with subcontractors and suppliers on-site to ensure work sequencing and deliveries do not disrupt project timelines or quality standards.
- Prepare and maintain detailed daily site reports, recording progress, manpower, materials, weather conditions, and any site incidents or technical challenges.
- Support Project Engineers by preparing and submitting RFIs, site instructions, and variation requests related to site conditions or design discrepancies.
- Monitor subcontractor foremen’s performance and productivity, providing technical guidance and ensuring their work meets contractual and quality standards.
- Ensure all setting out points, benchmarks, and temporary works are maintained and adjusted as necessary to accommodate design changes or site constraints.
- Supervise and coordinate interface works between disciplines (civil, architectural, MEP) to prevent clashes and rework.
- Maintain as-built documentation and assist in updating site drawings to reflect approved modifications and changes.
- Assist in coordinating material testing, soil compaction, concrete strength tests, and other site-specific quality assurance activities.
- Work closely with the planning team to provide accurate and timely progress updates, highlighting any delays or constraints impacting the critical path.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
- 5 or more years of experience in building construction including at least 4 years in Dubai.
- Strong technical knowledge of construction methods, structural and finishing works, and local authority requirements.
