Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Site QC Engineer to oversee and manage all quality control activities at the project site. The ideal candidate must have strong experience in steel structures, PEB, fabrication, erection, and construction quality inspections. The Site QC Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that all site activities are executed in compliance with approved drawings, project specifications, ITPs, method statements, international standards, and client quality requirements.

The candidate will coordinate closely with consultants, clients, main contractors, site engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, and QA/QC teams to ensure smooth inspection processes, timely approvals, proper documentation, and successful project execution without quality deviations.

Key Responsibilities Quality Inspection & Site Monitoring

  • Conduct regular site inspections for structural steel erection, fabrication, welding, bolting, alignment, installation, and finishing works.
  • Ensure all activities are executed according to approved shop drawings, IFC drawings, project specifications, quality standards, and method statements.
  • Monitor site execution activities and verify workmanship quality during all stages of construction.
  • Inspect incoming materials and verify compliance with approved material submittals and specifications.
  • Carry out dimensional inspections, fit-up inspections, alignment checks, bolt torque inspections, grouting inspections, and visual quality inspections.
  • Monitor painting, blasting, coating, and touch-up activities as per project coating specifications and approved procedures.
  • Ensure welding activities are performed according to approved WPS/PQR and applicable standards.

QA/QC Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare and submit WIR (Work Inspection Requests), MIR (Material Inspection Requests), and RFIs to consultants/main contractors.
  • Maintain proper records of inspections, approvals, test reports, NCR logs, punch lists, calibration certificates, and QA/QC documents.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports for management review.
  • Maintain updated quality documentation and ensure proper document control procedures are followed.
  • Assist in preparation and implementation of ITPs (Inspection & Test Plans), quality procedures, and checklists.
  • Maintain project quality files and support project handover documentation.

NCR & Corrective Action Management

  • Identify non-conformance activities/materials and raise NCRs where required.
  • Coordinate with site teams and subcontractors for corrective and preventive actions.
  • Follow up NCR closure activities and ensure compliance before closing observations.
  • Monitor rework activities and ensure quality compliance after rectification.

Coordination & Client Interaction

  • Coordinate with consultants, clients, third-party inspectors, and main contractors for inspections and approvals.
  • Attend site meetings, quality meetings, and inspection walkdowns with project stakeholders.
  • Support project engineers and site supervisors in resolving quality-related technical issues.
  • Ensure inspection activities are planned properly to avoid project delays.
  • Coordinate with planning and execution teams to align quality inspections with site progress schedules.

Standards, Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with project quality plans, approved procedures, and international standards such as ASTM, AWS, BS, AISC, and ISO requirements.
  • Verify calibration validity of measuring instruments and inspection equipment used on site.
  • Ensure all inspections and testing activities are conducted according to project specifications and client requirements.
  • Support implementation of HSE policies during inspection activities.
  • Participate in internal audits, consultant audits, and quality surveillance activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3–7 years of UAE/GCC experience in QA/QC inspection activities for steel structures, PEB, structural steel, industrial, or construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of QA/QC procedures, documentation, inspection processes, and construction standards.
  • Experience handling WIR, MIR, ITP, Method Statements, NCRs, Quality Checklists, and inspection documentation.
  • Familiarity with welding inspection, steel erection inspections, coating inspections, and site quality control procedures.
  • Knowledge of international standards such as ASTM, BS, AWS, ISO, and AISC.
  • Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, shop drawings, and project specifications.
  • Strong coordination and communication skills with consultants and project teams.
  • Good reporting and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and QA/QC reporting systems.
