Civil Surveyor / Site Survey Engineer – Township Projects

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Civil Surveyor / Site Survey Engineer to handle all surveying and levelling activities for a large-scale township development comprising roads, residential buildings, drainage, utilities, and associated infrastructure works.

The candidate will be responsible for accurate setting out, levelling, alignment, and measurement of civil works using Total Station, Auto Level, and GPS instruments, ensuring execution strictly as per approved drawings, benchmarks, and technical specifications.

The role demands strong field execution knowledge, coordination with site engineers, contractors, and consultants, and the ability to independently manage survey activities from earthwork stage to final finishing levels.

Key Roles & ResponsibilitiesSurveying & Setting Out

• Carry out topographical surveys, boundary surveys, and control point establishment for township layouts.
• Perform setting out of buildings, roads, drains, culverts, retaining walls, and utilities as per approved drawings.
• Establish and maintain benchmarks (TBM / PBM) and reference points across the project site.

Levelling & Alignment

• Conduct longitudinal and cross-section levelling for:
• Internal township roads
• Main approach roads
• Stormwater drains and sewer lines
• Check and control formation levels, subgrade, GSB, WMM, and bituminous/concrete layers.
• Verify plinth levels, footing levels, PCC levels, and finished floor levels (FFL) for buildings.
• Ensure correct horizontal and vertical alignment of roads and structures.

Instrumentation & Data Handling

• Operate Total Station, Auto Level, Dumpy Level, GPS efficiently.
• Download, process, and interpret survey data using software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or equivalent.
• Prepare survey drawings, level sheets, and as-built drawings.

Quality Control & Coordination

• Cross-check contractor work for level accuracy and dimensional compliance.
• Coordinate with project engineers, planning engineers, and consultants to resolve site discrepancies.
• Assist in quantity verification for earthwork, embankment, and road layers.
• Support billing measurements and joint surveys.

Qualifications & ExperienceEducational Qualification

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (B.E / B.Tech / Diploma – Civil).

Experience

• Minimum 3–7 years of site surveying experience, preferably in:
• Township projects
• Residential layouts
• Road and infrastructure works
• Prior experience in road levelling and building layout is mandatory.
