We’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Remote Energy Modeler. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with no prior experience who is eager to learn and grow in the building science industry.

Our team specializes in ensuring that homes and buildings meet modern energy codes through energy rating services, home energy audits, new construction inspections, and pre-permit compliance reviews. As part of our company, you’ll gain hands-on knowledge of how buildings use energy, how code requirements are verified, and how efficiency improvements are documented.

The ideal candidate is a proactive self-starter who can work effectively in a remote setting, is highly detail-oriented, and has an interest in sustainability and building performance.

Although this is a remote position, we occasionally hold team meetings and attend events. At times, we may also ask the candidate to join us in the field to gain hands-on experience or assist with social media.

Job Responsibilities

  • Create detailed 3D models of homes in SketchUp and integrate them into energy modeling software.
  • Assist with energy analysis and reporting to generate efficiency reports and verify compliance with building codes and green program requirements.
  • Assist with pre-permit reviews, energy efficiency documentation, and inspection data entry.
  • Manage project documentation and data organization
  • Draft and design various documents and marketing materials using platforms like Adobe and Canva
  • Coordinate communication by reviewing inspection reports and responding to emails in a timely manner
  • Perform Manual J, S, and D calculations to accurately size HVAC systems and duct sizing for new residential construction.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Strong time management skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving are essential for success in this role.
  • Familiarity with graphic design software, specifically Adobe and Canva
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling software such as SketchUp (preferred)
  • RESNET or BPI Certifications (preferred)
  • Experience with energy modeling software, including Ekotrope or Remrate - Or experience in ASHRAE Modeling. (preferred)
