About The Mole Clinic

The MOLE Clinic is one of the UK's leading specialist providers of skin cancer screening and mole removal, with clinics across London and the South East and an expanding national footprint. We hold a CQC Good rating, work with leading consultant dermatologists and plastic surgeons, and use the latest diagnostic technology in purpose-built clinical environments.

Our mission is straightforward: to reduce skin cancer mortality through early detection and exceptional care. Every nurse we hire plays a direct role in that.

The Role

This is a specialist clinical role. You will conduct comprehensive full-body skin cancer screenings, assess and document moles and lesions using dermoscopy, and work closely with consultant dermatologists and plastic surgeons to support patient pathways.

Dermatology experience is not required. What is required is strong clinical foundations, a sharp eye for detail, genuine intellectual curiosity, and the commitment to complete a rigorous specialist training programme before you begin seeing patients independently.

If you are looking for a straightforward clinical role with minimal learning curve, this is not it. If you are looking for a role that will genuinely stretch you, build rare specialist expertise, and put you at the forefront of skin cancer detection in the UK — read on.

The Training Programme

Before you see patients independently, you will complete The MOLE Clinic's Skin Cancer Screening Nurse Training Programme — the only nurse-led skin cancer screening course accredited by the Royal College of Nursing (RCN).

You need to know what this involves before you apply:

  • Two weeks of intensive full-time training, Monday to Friday, at one of our London clinics
  • A structured mix of academic study, clinical theory, dermoscopy technique, and supervised practice
  • Written and practical assessments throughout — this is not a tick-box induction
  • The academic content is genuinely demanding; candidates without experience of structured learning should reflect carefully on whether this is the right moment to take it on
  • Candidates who complete the programme emerge with a specialist qualification that is highly valued and not widely held

We are proud of this programme. We are also honest about it: it requires focus, commitment, and the ability to absorb and apply complex clinical information under time pressure. Nurses who thrive here tend to be the ones who were excited by that description, not reassured by it.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive full-body skin cancer screenings using structured clinical assessment techniques
  • Identify, document, and escalate suspicious or atypical lesions in line with clinical protocols
  • Maintain clear, accurate, and detailed clinical documentation
  • Collaborate with consultant dermatologists and plastic surgeons to support patient pathways
  • Uphold clinical governance standards, internal protocols, and CQC guidelines
  • Provide reassurance, education, and clear communication to patients throughout their consultation

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • NMC-registered nurse in good standing
  • Strong clinical assessment skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrable ability to learn and apply complex clinical or technical material — we will ask you about this at interview
  • Professional, composed manner with anxious or vulnerable patients
  • Commitment to completing the full two-week training programme in London prior to starting in post

Desirable:

  • Experience in a screening, assessment, or diagnostic role
  • Background in dermatology, oncology, or general practice
  • Experience in a private healthcare setting

What We Offer

  • Salary: £42,000 per annum (FTE)
  • Performance bonus: Monthly, averaging £4,000 per annum (FTE)
  • NMC annual retention fee paid by The MOLE Clinic
  • Private Medical Insurance from day one
  • Annual leave: 28 days plus bank holidays (FTE) and your birthday off
  • Company pension scheme
  • Paid sick leave
  • Friends and family discount on treatments
  • Employee referral scheme
  • Eyecare vouchers and annual flu vaccination
  • Company social events

Working Hours:

  • 40 hours per week, including two Saturdays per month.
  • Monday to Friday: 8am - 5pm or 10am - 7pm
  • Saturdays: 9am - 4pm
  • We are closed on bank holidays

How to Apply

Please apply with your CV and a covering note addressing the following in no more than a few sentences: tell us about a time you had to learn a significant amount of clinical or technical material in a short period — what was it, and how did you approach it?

Applications without a covering note will not be progressed.

The MOLE Clinic is an equal opportunities employer. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates regardless of background.
