MATRIX is in need of a Project Engineer to provide oversight and technical coordination for Subsequent License Renewal (SLR) initiatives across Monticello and Red Wing, MN. This role will support project management execution, not plant design.

Contract duration: 6 months - with possibility of extension

Key Responsibilities:

  • Must have nuclear power plant experience in a systems, design, or project engineering preferably with utilities or nuclear EPCs.
  • This position supports the Projects Organization, providing technical interface between project managers, design engineers, and field execution teams, not performing detailed engineering design.
  • Look for experience in Subsequent License Renewal (SLR) or Life Extension Projects, such as long-term asset management, component aging management, and equipment replacement tied to NRC license renewal applications.
  • Candidates should demonstrate experience with scoping, design input coordination, work package development, and technical review of modification or upgrade projects within a nuclear station.
  • Regulatory & QA Experience: Must understand 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, NRC regulations, and INPO standards. Experience with configuration control, design basis documentation, and QA/QC deliverable review is essential.
  • Backgrounds in mechanical, electrical, civil, or I&C engineering are ideal, especially if they’ve supported projects involving equipment aging management, I&C modernization, or component replacement programs.
  • Should have strong capability in interface management, scope definition, schedule alignment, and field issue resolution, bridging the gap between engineering and project controls.
  • Proficiency with SAP, Maximo, or Passport, and Primavera P6 (for project tracking and reporting); familiarity with document control and change management systems used in nuclear environments.
  • Typically 10–25+ years of experience, with at least 5 years in a nuclear facility or nuclear capital project setting.
