Overview

Hiring for January of 2026. We are a year round school with frequent week long breaks (in place of one long Summer break).
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our micro-school in January of 2025. Small classroom size and hands on learning!

The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment for students with diverse needs, including those on the autism spectrum. This role involves developing tailored educational programs and implementing effective teaching strategies to support the academic and social growth of each student.

Responsibilities

  • Create engaging lesson plans that accommodate various learning styles and abilities.
  • Foster a positive classroom environment through effective classroom management techniques.
  • Assess student progress regularly and adjust teaching methods accordingly to ensure all students are meeting their educational goals.
  • Collaborate with other educators, support staff, and parents to promote child welfare and holistic development.
  • Provide support and guidance to students in social skills development and emotional regulation.
  • Maintain accurate records of student acedemic performance

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in special education or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Valid Virginia teaching lisence in Special Education.
  • Experience working with students with disabilities, particularly those on the autism spectrum.
  • Proficient in lesson planning, curriculum development, and adapting materials for diverse learners.
  • Strong understanding of child welfare principles and advocacy for students’ needs.
  • Excellent classroom management skills with the ability to create a structured learning environment.
  • Compassionate attitude towards students with special needs, demonstrating patience and understanding in all interactions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
