Smart Body Repair Technician

Job Purpose:

The Smart Body Repair Technician is responsible for high quality cosmetic and minor body repairs with minimal replacement. The role includes dent repair, small panel repair, preparation, and localized refinishing/blending as per workshop capability and SOP. Strong attention to finish quality, safety, and turnround time is required. Paintless Dent Repair (PDR) is an advantage but not mandatory.

1.

Inspect damaged panels and identify the best repair method (smart repair vs replacement)

2.

Perform minor dent using suitable techniques (pulling, tapping, reshaping, heat methods, where applicable)

3.

Carry out surface preparation, sanding, feather edging, filter/putty application, priming, and panel leveling.

4.

Execute localized refinishing /blending (spot repair) and polishing to match OEM appearance (gloss, texture, and color).

5.

Apply correct masking, mixing, and material handing practices to reduce overspray and rework

6.

Ensure final quality: correct panel contour, no sanding marks, no pinholes, consistent golss, and clean edges

7.

Maintain job cards and before/after photos, record materials used and time taken as required.

8.

Follow HSE standards including PPE, chemical handing, dust control, and safe tool operation.

9.

Maintain workshop discipline: clean bay, organized tools, and proper waste disposal

I. Minimum Requirements:

1.

Minimum 5 years hand-on experience in smart repair, or dent repair, or body repair in a professional workshop

2.

Ability to deliver first-time-right cosmetic repair with minimal rework

3.

Strong knowledge of color matching, blending principles, and finishing standards ( as applicable).

Ability to work independently and manage time to meet daily targets.

II. Preferred (Optional) Skills

1.

Paintless Dent Repair (PDR) capability – door dings, crease work, hail dents (Optional)

2.

Experience with aluminium panel repair and modern vehicle body materials (advantage)

3.

Detailing and polishing skills: ability to deliver showroom finish (advantage).

III. Tools and Equipment Familiarity (Preferred)

1.

Dent pulling systems, glue pulling tools, hammer and dilly set, tapping tools.

2.

DA sander, sanding blocks, polishing machine and compound system

3.

Heat gun or induction heater (if used by workshop).

4

Basic paint preparation tools: masking material, mixing cups, strainers, and spray equipment (if applicable)
