Soccer Coach - Youth (Mornings, 5-15 hours per week)

Mile High Kids Collective runs Soccer Stars programs for toddlers and kids across the South Denver metro. We're hiring two or three part-time coaches for spring and summer, with priority going to candidates who can work weekday mornings (roughly 9 AM–11 AM, start times vary by location) or weekend mornings.

The job is straightforward: you show up at a preschool, park, or elementary school with a bag of soccer balls and cones, and you run a 30–60 minute class for kids aged 1 to 10. We've already written the curriculum — age-appropriate games, drills, and activities designed to build coordination and confidence, not to produce the next Messi. Your job is to bring the energy, keep every kid smiling, and make sure parents see their three-year-old having the best 45 minutes of their week.

You do not need to have played competitive soccer. You do not need a coaching background. If you like kids, show up on time, and can make a group of four-year-olds laugh, we can teach you the rest.

The schedule honestly

Most of our classes run weekday mornings (typically starting at 9 or 9:30) at preschools and daycares, and weekend mornings (9:30 - noon) at parks. We also have a small number of weekday afternoon slots (2:15–4:00 PM). You tell us which blocks you're available and we build a schedule around it.

Expect 5–10 hours a week if you have limited availability, 10–15 if you can work most mornings. Only expect up to 20 hours if you work mornings and afternoons 5 days per week. Individual sessions can be as short as 45–90 minutes, so you need to be okay with short shifts that require driving to a site — this isn't a job where you clock in for an eight-hour block.

What you'll actually do

Drive to the day's site (Littleton, Highlands Ranch, Parker, Centennial, or Englewood, depending on the program), set up your field with cones and goals, run the class we've prepped for you, pack the gear into your car, and head to the next one or home. Along the way you'll chat with parents at pickup, send a quick end-of-class note to the site coordinator, and occasionally sit in on team trainings where we work on new drills and coaching technique.

What we need from you

  • A car big enough to haul a bag of balls, cones, and a couple of pop-up goals — sedans work, coupes are tight
  • Reliability. A coach no-showing a group of preschoolers and breaking their hearts is the single worst thing you can do in this job. We expect you to show up.
  • Genuine warmth with small kids — you can get a shy four-year-old to join the circle without forcing it
  • Willingness to be goofy in public. You will bark like a dog and pretend to be a shark. Lean in. If you are too cool for school, you aren't a good fit.
  • 18 or older, valid US work authorization, clean background check
  • A reliable commute to the south metro — if you live in Thornton or Westminster, this probably isn't the right fit

Nice to have, not required

  • Any experience with kids — camp counseling, tutoring, babysitting, teaching, grandparent, youth ministry, whatever
  • You played soccer at some point (rec league counts) or you coach another sport
  • Current CPR/First Aid, or willingness to get certified (we'll help)
  • Early childhood education or PE background

What you get

  • $22/hour starting for new coaches, $25+/hour for experienced coaches or those with a strong youth-sports background
  • Sign-on bonus for coaches who can commit to weekday morning availability
  • Paid training before your first solo class
  • End-of-season performance bonuses
  • Referral bonuses if you bring another great coach onto the team
  • Cross-brand hours available — we also run Little Medical School and Karate Zoo, and good coaches often pick up shifts across programs to build a bigger schedule
  • A real advancement path: Head Coach → Coach Trainer → Program Coordinator for people who want to grow with us
  • Flexible scheduling, and a team that actually cares whether you're having a good day

Who this is great for

College students at ACC, DU, MSU Denver, or DSST looking for flexible morning work that pays more than campus jobs. Teachers, paraprofessionals, and substitutes wanting steady side income. Stay-at-home parents whose own kids are in school during the day. Former youth athletes who miss being around the game. People transitioning careers who want something low-stress and meaningful.

How to apply

Reply with a short note about (1) your experience with kids, any kind, (2) which time blocks you're available — weekday mornings, weekday afternoons, weekend mornings, or a mix, and (3) where in the metro you live, so we know what commute we're asking of you. We'll reach out within a few days to set up a quick phone chat.
