Position: Social Media and Computer Instructor
Status: Part-Time/ Non-exempt
Reports to: Economic Empowerment Program Manager

The Korean American Family Service Center, Inc. (KAFSC) is a leading non-profit organization assisting women, children, and families in the New York tri-state area in recognizing and eliminating relationship violence and abuse. Our counseling, education, advocacy, and support services help individuals empower themselves to build safe and healthy relationships based on mutual respect, compassion, and dignity. Each year, over 3,000 individuals benefit from one or more services that we provide. All our services are culturally sensitive, linguistically appropriate, and free.

Position Summary:

KAFSC is seeking a part-time instructor to support community members across multiple levels of digital learning, from beginners with little to no computer experience to individuals ready to apply technological skills towards career development including selling handmade products online.

This role will lead a variety of courses, including Computer Basics, Workforce Computer Skills (e.g., Microsoft Office, email, online communication), Social Media, and E-Commerce. The instructor will work primarily with non-native English speaking adults in person, helping them build foundational digital skills and progressively apply those skills toward employment and entrepreneurship.

The instructor will design and deliver engaging, hands-on lessons tailored to adult learners, breaking down technical concepts into clear, accessible steps and fostering a supportive learning environment that builds confidence and independence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver hands-on instruction across courses including Computer Basics, Workforce Computer Skills, Social Media, and E-Commerce
  • Teach social media and e-commerce with a focus on promoting and selling handmade products online (e.g., Etsy or similar platforms)
  • Guide participants through the online selling process, including product listing, branding, photography, content creation, and digital marketing
  • Support learners in developing foundational digital skills and applying them toward employment and entrepreneurship
  • Adapt lessons to meet varying skill levels, including beginners with little to no computer experience
  • Provide clear, step-by-step instruction tailored to non-native English speakers
  • Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom environment that builds confidence and engagement
  • Monitor student progress and provide individualized support and feedback

Demonstrated Skills:

  • Ability to design clear instructional materials (e.g., slide presentations, guided exercises)
  • Strong classroom facilitation and lesson planning skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and support learners in real time
  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms and/or online selling tools (Etsy or similar)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, email, and general internet use
  • Ability to structure instruction for beginner to intermediate learners
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify technical concepts
  • Commitment to adult education and serving diverse, immigrant communities

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to work in person.
  • Experience teaching digital literacy, social media, e-commerce, or computer skills to adult learners preferred
  • Experience in communications, content creation, handmade arts/crafts, or small product sales preferred
  • Familiarity with photography, photo editing, and basic design tools (e.g., Canva, Pixlr, Adobe)
  • Prior teaching, tutoring, or mentoring experience preferred
  • Excellent communication skills and patience working with beginner learners
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience preferred
  • Korean language proficiency preferred

Compensation

  • Salary : $35.00 per hour
