The American Veterans Center (AVC) is where history meets multimedia and culture, producing major live events and Emmy-winning television specials, along with mass-reaching digital content, all designed to preserve and spotlight America’s heroic legacy. At the heart of our brand is spotlighting the heroes who inspire us all, then bringing their experiences to a mass audience.
The AVC is hiring for the position of Social Media Brand Developer, who will be responsible for growing the reach and brand presence of AVC by creating high-quality video edits and distributing those videos across social media platforms, and developing an impactful brand identity across the digital landscape.
To take our brand, content, and reputation to new levels, we are seeking a motivated brand developer and editor with demonstrated proficiency in growing reach and engagement on social accounts, while also having the ability to create/edit the short-form video content they will be distributing. As a creative and engagement lead, superior communication and interpersonal skills are a must. Strong preference for candidates that have an existing knowledge base and interest in American history and military history.
Primary:
● Promote Brand Identity: Establish a consistent, recognizable voice, visual style, and target audience persona across major and relevant digital channels, all aligned with AVC’s tone of ‘aspirational American history.’
● Content Strategy & Curation: Develop and publish high-quality viral content to grab attention and boost engagement. Lead creation of video Short/Reel products from moments at AVC events, interview shoots, and other brand-forward opportunities.
● Editing: Must be able to edit quality volume content, creating three high-performing vertical video Short/Reel edits per day from existing in-house media.
● Community Management: Actively engage with followers by responding to comments and encouraging user-generated content.
● Analytics and Optimization: Track performance metrics (views, watch time, retention, CTR, engagement) to iterate on content strategy and continuously improve results. Optimize edits, titles, SEO, A/B testing, etc.
● Platform Specialization: Understand unique position and operation of specific key platforms and cultivate content accordingly, with specific attention to YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook.
● Stay Updated and Collaborate: Keep up with algorithm changes and social media trends, and collaborate with the AVC team on integrating brand content and impact.
Secondary:
● Manage brand-forward communication assets, including periodic website updates and content & marketing decks.
● Coordinate in the development of branded merchandise and lead the implementation of online stores leveraging audiences across YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, etc.
● Demonstrated interest and passion for brand development, culture, content creation, editing, and storytelling. Strong interest in U.S. history and military history is a major bonus. Though knowledge of history is not required, enthusiasm to learn is.
● Proven success in developing and managing social media on behalf of an organization or brand.
● Portfolio demonstrating proficiency in editing skills, specifically short content. Strong demonstrated performance with YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels is preferred.
● Proficiency in editing in Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, and other Adobe Creative Cloud Applications, as well as in relevant social media platforms.
● Strong multitasking and project management skills and demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and tight deadlines are required. Willingness to go above and beyond in advance and through major AVC events and shows, most notably surrounding Memorial Day and Veterans Day.
● Superior communication and interpersonal skills, both in external engagement and internal team collaboration. Externally, you will be a caretaker of our reputation. Internally, we are a small team, and must be highly collaborative and of one mind.
● Experience using and referring to brand style guidelines.
● Positive attitude and a sense of humor, with the ability to have fun while telling incredible stories.
● Enthusiasm for pop culture of all kinds! Movies, television, music - all eras, all genres. We’re storytellers, and the best storytellers are enthusiastic about stories and brands of all kinds.
● Bachelor’s Degree with 3+ years of professional experience in social media brand development & editing.
● Location in the Washington, DC area is preferred but not required. This is a unique position, so the right fit supersedes location. Minimal travel to major AVC events will be required.
This position will be approximately 50% social media brand development & strategy and 50% Shorts/Reels editing, and will require the ability to transition between the creative processes for both.
An editing test for speed and quality will be required as part of the evaluation process.
