Social Media & Communications Specialist

Location: Rapid City, SD (On-location)

Are you passionate about creating engaging social media content and driving impactful communications strategies? Join the Black Hills & Badlands Tourism Association (BH&B) team as our Communications & Social Media Specialist!

At BH&B, we’re dedicated to promoting the Black Hills and Badlands region as the ultimate destination for travelers. We’re looking for a creative and strategic professional to take our social media and communication efforts to the next level.

Key Responsibilities

As the Communications & Social Media Specialist, you will:

  • Develop and execute a dynamic social media strategy across platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and LinkedIn.
  • Create compelling content (written, visual, and video) to engage and grow our audience while maintaining our brand voice.
  • Monitor, analyze, and optimize social media performance using AI tools and analytics platforms.
  • Craft engaging content for web, email, blogs, and print materials.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align messaging with organizational goals and campaigns.
  • Utilize AI-driven tools to enhance content creation, SEO optimization, and audience engagement.
  • Write press releases, email campaigns, and other external communications for both consumers and industry partners.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is creative, tech-savvy, and thrives in a collaborative environment. We’re seeking someone with:

  • Experience: Proven experience in social media management, communications, or a related field.
  • Skills: Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills; proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop) and AI tools for content creation and analytics.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with SEO best practices, email marketing platforms, and AP Style guidelines.
  • Characteristics: A professional, detail-oriented, and adaptable individual with a passion for learning and innovation.
